U.S. JUNIOR AMATEUR SECTIONAL QUALIFYING

FORMAT:

All players will compete in an 18-hole stroke-play qualifying round.  Qualifiers will advance to the 72nd U.S. Junior Amateur Championship which will be held at the Inverness Club in Toledo, OH, July 15 - 20 2019.  The final number of qualifying spots at each site will be available from the Committee on the day of play. 

 

REGISTRATION:

There will be no formal registration at this event.

 

STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS: 

Starting times and pairings will be e-mailed to players and posted online at scga.org one week in advance of the tournament. Starting times will range from 8:20 a.m. to approximately 10:20 a.m. 

 

Players are encouraged to arrive at their assigned tee well in advance of their starting time, as the SCGA starter will have information to discuss and distribute to each player in the group. Furthermore, players arriving late will be penalized under Rule 5.3a of the Rules of Golf. For example, the 9:00 a.m. starting time is defined as 9:00:00, and players arriving after that time are considered late. Lead groups should plan to be at their assigned tee 10 minutes in advance of their starting time. Subsequent groups are encouraged to arrive in time to watch the group in front of them tee off.

   

PRACTICE ROUNDS:

Contestants may make arrangements for practice rounds at their own expense by contacting Director of Golf, Patrick Casey, via email at pcasey@brentwoodcc.net. Practice round fee: $25 (Tuesday-Sunday after 3:00 p.m.); excluding May 28th, June 5th, and June 6th. ONLY CHECKS will be accepted and can be made out to Brentwood Country Club. No carts will be allowed for practice rounds; walking only. Pull carts are available for rental ($15 each) for practice rounds. Players may bring their own push/pull cart for the day of the tournament only. Players will be limited to the practice putting green only before practice rounds. Please mention that you are a participant in the U.S. Junior Amateur qualifier to receive this rate.

 

TEES AND YARDAGES

Play will be from the USGA tee markers placed on the Black/Blue Combo yardages. 

Course Rating: 73.0 / Slope: 134 / approximately 6,869 yards / Par 72. 

 

DRIVING RANGE:

The Driving Range will be open by 7:00 a.m. on the day of the qualifier.  Range balls will be provided compliments of the Brentwood CC on the Driving Range. Players will be limited to IRONS ONLY. 

 

FOOD SERVICE AND PURCHASES:

The snack bar will be open from 7:00 a.m. until the conclusion of play.

CASH ONLY will be accepted for all purchases.

 

RULES OF PLAY:

  • The Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA and the R&A govern play.
  • Local Rules and Terms of the Competition can be found on the USGA Hard Card and the Notice to Players addendum that will be distributed on site.
  • One Ball Rule: Model Local Rule G-4 is in effect. During an entire round, each ball at which the player makes a stroke must be the same brand and model as found in a single entry on the current List of Conforming Balls.
  • Prohibiting Use of Motorized Transportation: Model Local Rule G-6 is in effect. During a round, a player or caddie must not ride on any form of motorized transportation except as authorized or later approved by the Committee. A player who will play, or has played, under penalty of stroke and distance is always authorized to ride on motorized transportation by a SCGA official. 
  • Allowing Replacement of Broken or Significantly Damaged Clubs: Model Local Rule G-9 is in effect.
  • Ball Played from Outside Relief Area When Taking Back-on-the-Line Relief: Model Local Rule E-12 is in effect.
  • Prohibiting Use of Certain Types of Shoes: Model Local Rule G-7 is in effect.

AUTOMOTIVE TRANSPORTATION / PULL CARTS & PUSH CARTS:

Golf carts are prohibited during the qualifier.  Pull carts or push carts are permitted. The club has a limited number of pull carts available for rental on a first come first served basis  Players are permitted to obtain a ride from a rules official when having to go back to play another ball under stroke and distance.

 

CADDIES & SPECTATORS:

Players may provide their own caddie (See section on Automotive Transportation). A player may not use a parent, step parent, or guardian as a caddie during sectional qualifying or the championship proper. Caddies must adhere to the dress code listed in section below. Spectators are permitted but are not allowed in carts. Spectators must adhere to all policies set forth by the club.

 

DRESS CODE:

Players and caddies must be properly attired in golf shirts, slacks, Bermuda-length dress or golf shorts and soft spike shoes. Jeans (any color or any kind), T-shirts and tank tops will not be permitted. Shirts must be tucked in and hats are to be worn forward at all times. 

 

CANCELLATIONS:

To withdraw for any reason prior to the start of an USGA competition, a player must notify the SCGA Rules and Competitions Department at (818) 980-3630, or by clicking here, AND the USGA Championship Administration Department at (908) 234-2300.
