Created in 1950 on the basis of a bequest from Howard Kenworthy (1885-1949) of Youngstown, Ohio, where he had been President of a steel company providing sheet steel for automobile bodies.  A graduate of Yale, class of 1908, he was elected to membership in the Tin Whistles in 1939. Never married, he had a winter residence in Pinehurst starting in 1940.
