Welcome to the Wednesday Senior Mens (55+)

Welcome to the Wednesday Senior Men’s Golf Group at Squamish Valley Golf Club.

 

The Senior Men’s group is the largest of our leagues and has been running successfully for many years.

Our purpose is to encourage senior men (55+) to come out and enjoy a competitive yet relaxed round of golf with fellow members.

Everyone who is 55 years of age on or before any given day of play is welcome.

Schedule

Play takes place every Wednesday morning approximately around 7:30 am to 10:00 am dependent on the time we open up in the morning throughout the season

Registration

Registration can be completed at any time for any week, as long as the registration window is still open.

Registration closes each week at 6:00 pm on the Sunday prior to play so the draw can be completed and emailed to the league.

Guests

Members may bring a guest at the SVGC member-guest rate, in addition to the Men’s Club league fee.

Guests must have a registered Golf Canada handicap to be eligible for gross and net prizes. Guests without a Golf Canada handicap will still be eligible for KP’s and the deuce pot.

Members are responsible for their guests’ behavior.

If the field is full, guest participation may be limited.

Guest Registration:

To register a guest:

  1. Sign up for the event through Golf Genius as usual.

  2. During registration, use the Send Message to Manager option.

  3. Include the following information in the message:

    • Guest Name

    • Golf Canada Handicap Index

Cost

$10 entry fee each week (cash)

Weekly Draws

The weekly draw will be randomized to ensure players have the opportunity to play with different members throughout the season.

Players can expect to receive the weekly draw by email no later than 10:00 am Monday morning.

Except when an event requires specific pairings (such as handicap order or team competitions), the draw system will rotate players to create different playing groups each week.

Tees

All play is from the White Tees.

Super Seniors (born in 1949 or earlier) will play from the Green tees.  

Scoring

Scorecards will be printed and distributed on the morning of play.

One player in each group will be asked to keep score.

After the round:

  • Scorecards must be returned to the Pro Shop

  • Scores will be entered hole by hole

  • Results will be posted weekly in Golf Genius

  • Scores will automatically upload to Golf Canada

Neat and legible scorecards are essential.

Prizes

Golf balls will be awarded each week for KP’s (Closest to the Pin) on all four Par 3 holes.
These prizes are donated in part by Tom Malpass.

Depending on the size of the field, prizes will be distributed based on placement, with:

  • 1st place, receiving the largest prize

  • Remaining prizes distributed to as many places as possible.

Rules

Gimmies are limited to 12 inches, except during competitions specifically designated as “No Gimmies.”

Tom Malpass, a local Realtor and member of the club, sponsors the Senior Men’s group, and we are very grateful for his support.

In addition to donating a sleeve of golf balls each week, he also provides financial support and donates prizes and trophies for the league.

Sign-Up Instructions

Signing up for an event is simple.

Type the first three letters of your first or last name into the Select Name box to the left of this message. Most members’ names are already in the league roster, so your name should appear below the search box.

Select your name and click Next to proceed. You will then see the list of all weekly league events and the option to sign up.

You may register for any or all events at once.

Registration for each event closes at 6:00 pm on the Sunday before the event. Up until that time, you may return to this page to cancel your registration if needed.

Once you sign up, you will receive a confirmation email within five minutes.

If your name does not appear in the roster list, simply register for the league by clicking the Register Now button above the Select Name box.

Results

Weekly results will be emailed to participants after scoring has been completed, typically within an hour of the competition ending.

Results can also be viewed by selecting the Results tab at the top of the league page.
