Registration for the contestants will be Monday, July 20^th from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Monday, July 20

Arrivals and Registration at Poppy Ridge Golf Course from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The practice range opens at 6:30 a.m.

Practice Rounds are available beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Players’ Welcome Barbecue – 6:00 p.m. Social Hour; 7:00 p.m. Barbecue Dinner

 

Tuesday, July 21

The practice Range opens at 6:30 a.m.

First Round - starting times from 7:30 a.m. – 1:20 p.m. from the #1 tee

Hosted Player Lunch - 12:00 p.m. – until last group finishes

 

Wednesday, July 22

The practice Range opens at 6:30 a.m.

Second Round - starting times from 7:30 a.m. – 1:20 p.m. from the #1 tee

Hosted Player Lunch - 12:00 p.m. – until last group finishes
 

Thursday, July 23

The practice Range opens at 6:30 a.m.

Third Round - starting times from 7:30 a.m. – 1:20 p.m. from the #1 tee

Hosted Player Lunch - 12:00 p.m. – until last group finishes

 

After Thursday’s round (54-holes), the field is cut to 50 and ties.

 

Friday, July 24

The practice Range opens at 6:30 a.m.

Final Round – starting times from 7:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. from #1 tee.

Hosted Player Lunch - 12:00 p.m. – when last group finishes

Awards Presentation Ceremony immediately upon completion of play.

 

YARDAGE BOOKS

We will be providing each player with a Poppy Ridge Golf Course yardage book.  They will be handed out at registration with the championship yardage, so be sure to register before playing your practice round.

 

DRIVING RANGE

PCGA and Poppy Ridge Golf Course will provide contestants with range balls on the driving range one hour before the first starting time.  The driving range will close each day at 7:30 p.m.

 

PULL CARTS

The use of pull carts is allowed. Players must provide their own pull cart.

CADDIES

An extremely limited number of caddies may be available. Please email nschroeder@wagolf.org if you need a caddie.

 

NO HOSTED FOOD AND BEVERAGE (BREAKFAST)

Players are on their own for breakfast in the morning.  PCGA will host lunches each day of the championship and a barbecue on Monday, July 20^th (See below). 

PLAYERS HOSTED WELCOME BARBECUE (Cost for Players Included in Entry Fee)

The Players’ Welcome Barbecue will be held on Monday, July 20^th beginning at 6:00 p.m. (social hour) and 7:00 (barbecue) at Poppy Ridge Golf Course.  The PCGA hosts this dinner for all players (included in the entry fee), volunteers and officials.  Guests are also welcome to attend, but you must inform PCGA staff at registration on Monday, July 20^th no later than 1:00 p.m. If there are more than two guests, there will be a charge. Business casual/golf attire is preferred.
 

PCGA HOSTED LUNCH EACH DAY OF CHAMPIONSHIP (Cost for Players Included in Entry Fee)

To further assist in deferring player expenses, the PCGA will host a lunch (included in the entry fee) each day for players (Tuesday-Friday).  There will be a charge for guests.

 

BOTTLED WATER

PCGA will provide bottled water during the championship. Coolers and water fill stations will be at multiple locations on the golf course. Players must properly dispose of all empty water bottles and must not place them back in a cooler or on the ground next to coolers. Failure to properly dispose of empty water bottles in a violation of the PCGA Code of Conduct and may result in penalty.

 

FORMAT
Individual - The Individual championship shall be conducted over 72 holes, with a cut to low 50 and ties after 54 holes.  In the event of a tie, the individual champion will be determined by a hole-by-hole playoff immediately after the conclusion of play.

 

Morse Cup Team - The team championship, consisting of PCGA member association teams only, will be conducted over the first 36 holes.  The two low scores of three each day will be totaled to determine the winning association team of the Morse Cup competition and Trophy.  In the event of a tie, co-champions will be declared.

           

AWARDS

Individual – The low individual scorer will receive a PCGA Gold Championship Medal and a Crystal Trophy and his name will be engraved on the Edgar Updegraff Pacific Coast Amateur Championship Perpetual Trophy.  Individuals finishing second will receive a PCGA Silver Championship Medal.  Individuals finishing third will receive a PCGA Bronze Championship Medal. 

 

Morse Cup Team - The winning association holds the Morse Cup Perpetual Trophy for one year. Each team member receives a Gold Championship Medal.  Each member of the team(s) finishing in second place will receive a Silver Championship Medal. 

 

MORSE CUP TEAM PHOTOS (Applies only to PCGA Member Association Team Members)

Morse Cup team photos will be taken Wednesday morning, July 23^rd prior to play.  The location and a specific schedule of photo times for each association will be emailed to players on a Golf Association Morse Cup Team.

 

PACE OF PLAY

The PCGA pace of play policy that will be in effect for this championship. A separate memorandum to players with the details of this policy will be made available on the championship portal, handed out at registration and on the first tee.

 

LOCAL RULES AND TERMS OF COMPETITION

Players are encouraged to be familiar with the Local Rules and Terms of Competition, which will be available on the championship portal and handed out on the first tee.

 

PROHIBITED USE OF AUDIO EQUIPMENT

Rule 4.3 is modified in this way: During a round, a player is not allowed to use an electronic device to listen to music or other audio (such as podcasts or the like), including by using speakers, headphones or earbuds. Penalty for breach of Local Rule - see Rule 4.3.

 

DRESS CODE AT POPPY RIDGE GOLF COURSE

The PCGA dress code applies to contestants, caddies, and gallery, and will be strictly enforced during the championship week. Suitable attire must be worn at all times. Suitable attire DOES NOT include jeans or denim of any kind or color, running suits, CARGO PANTS OR SHORTS (Pockets on sides), tank tops, t-shirts or unkempt clothing of any kind. Shorts are permitted but must be worn at mid-thigh length or longer. All shirts must have
collars and must be worn tucked in. Failure to adhere to the dress code may result in disqualification and removal from club property. NOTE: Cargo pants or shorts are defined as having side pockets on the side of the leg.

Hats must be worn bill forward and shall be removed when seated inside the clubhouse.

 

CONDUCT CODE

The PCGA expects all contestants, caddies, gallery, and guests to exhibit proper conduct and behavior on the golf course and anywhere on club property. Unbecoming conduct or behavior may be grounds for immediate disqualification, at any time. The following are some examples of unbecoming conduct or behavior:

• Repeated use of loud, abusive, and/or profane language
• Throwing and/or breaking equipment (club, ball, etc.) in anger or frustration
• Damaging host club, PCGA, and/or fellow contestant property
• Public criticism or verbal abuse of host club, officials, volunteers or staff, and/or PCGA volunteers,           staff or fellow contestants
• Potential endangerment of others
• Intentionally violating stated club policy
• Violation of PCGA Dress Code and/or Footwear Policy
• Other conduct deemed unbecoming

The Committee in charge of the competition shall be the sole judge of determining Conduct Code violations.

 

PROHIBITED USE OF MOTORIZED TRANSPORTATION (CARTS)

Model Local Rule G-3 as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect and includes the exception that always authorizes riding when a player is operating under penalty of stroke and distance.

SPECTATOR CARTS AND GALLERY

To provide an equal championship platform for all competitors, the use of carts by spectators is not permitted by the PCGA. 

 

METHODS OF PAYMENT

All major credit cards are accepted throughout the facility.
