Stableford- 

Unlike traditional scoring methods, where the aim is to have the lowest score, the objective in a Stableford tournament is to have the highest score. Stableford awards points based on the number of strokes taken at each hole. The points awarded on each hole might look something like this:

• Double Eagle: 8 points

• Eagle: 5 points

• Birdie: 2 points

• Par: 0 points

• Bogey: -1 point

• Double Bogey or more: -3 points

While this point scheme is common on the tour, it can be modified to be more favorable for your league where you might score it similar to this:

• Double Eagle: 5 points

• Eagle: 4 points

• Birdie: 3 points

• Par: 2 points

• Bogey: 1 point

• Double Bogey or more: 0 points

While not played as frequently as the typical Stroke Play and Match Play tournaments, Stableford tournaments, like Quota tournaments, are a fun alternative.

 

Chicago-

Chicago is a golf scoring format where players start with a negative point "hurdle" based on their handicap (e.g., 39 minus handicap) and aim to reach a positive score using points for hole-by-hole performance. Players win points for bogey or better: 8 for eagle, 4 for birdie, 2 for par, and 1 for bogey.

 

 

Ringer Tournament- 

A Ringers (Eclectic) tournament is a Multi-Round Tournament that takes the best scores a player (or team) has made on each hole over the course of multiple rounds. These tournaments can be played in Stroke Play format or Stableford format.

Normally in a Ringer tournament, the same course and tee is played in every round. Because this is not always the case, Stroke Play Ringer tournaments are always scored relative to par.
