A PGA tour-like TRADITION and STRUCTURE unlike any other
TPGL Championship-Focused Season Playoff Structure
Based on 48 members
The primary focus of the TPGL season is a year-long series of different competitions where players are competing for playoff spots that earn them the right to participate in the year-end championship. The four competitions include:
HEAD TO HEAD
For this competition only, the TPGL is organized into three divisions based on player handicaps. TPGL players compete in 8 head to head matches against players in their flight (i.e. comparative ability). The schedule (who plays who for a given day) is 100% objective and is based on player availability for that day and the available players’ handicap seeding within their flight. The competition is net stroke play with 1 point awarded to the low score on the front nine, 1 point awarded to the low score on the back nine, and one point awarded to the low score for the 18 holes. The top 6 players (the most points earned) from each flight are awarded a playoff spot. To win the total merchandise associated with the head to head match, a player must earn at least 2 points. If both players earn 1 1/2 points each, the merchandise award is split 50-50. There is no minimum number of round requirements to be elgible for this competition. A player can play in as few rounds as his schedule permits or as he desires.
NET AVERAGE RECOGNITION
Every round a TPGL member plays counts towards the net average recognition. Excluding the 18 Head to Head qualifiers, the low 9 players gain a playoff spot. This competition assures that those who have played well in head to head but competed against "hot" golfers, are still assured a spot in the playoffs. To be elgible for this competition, a player must have completed at least 16 TPGL net average rounds.
The MAJORS
There are 9 TPGL majors during the season. Excluding the 18 Head to Head qualifiers and 9 Net Average qualifiers, the top 4 money winners of the 9 Majors combined (as defined by merchandise credit) are awarded playoff spots. There is no minimum number of round requirements to be elgible for this competition. A player can play in as few rounds as his schedule permits or as he desires.
BLOODY SUNDAY
As a final way to making the TPGL playoffs, the last Sunday of the regular season is reserved for an 18 hole net stroke play competition for players who did not qualify via head to head, net average or the majors. One player – the low net score of the day – wins the final 32nd spot of the playoffs. To be elgible for this competition, a player must have completed at least 16 TPGL net average rounds.
