In the TPGL, every round counts towards a specific competition such as net average, or head to head, or a major stroke play championship.  

FOURSOME PAIRINGS POLICY AND METHOD

The foursome pairings policy of the TPGL is for each player to be paired with players of comparable ability. Foursome pairings for any day/event are determined solely by the registered players for that day and their respective handicaps.

The pairings method (how foursomes are determined):

• Registered players for the day/event are ranked from low to high based on current handicaps.
• Based on handicap rankings, 3 groups of players are categorized: A, B and C.
• Regardless of all previous round pairings, pairings priorities are determined as follows:

TEE TIMES POLICY:

• The foursome pairings for any given day are determined by who registers for a round (player availability) and their respective handicap. But who tees off first? second? third?  In order to be fair to all members, the TPGL Committee has decided that a continuous rotation among player groups is the best approach. For example, the first TPGL competitive round of the year will see the A pairings teeing off first, followed by the B’s and C’s.  The second TPGL round will then see the B pairings teeing off first, followed by the C’s and A’s.  And in the third round, C’s will go off first, followed by A’s and B’s.  This rotation will be repeated throughout the TPGL competitive season.

POLICY NOTES:

• Specific tee time requests, preferred foursome pairing requests, or playings requesting not to play with specific individuals will not be accomodated. No exceptions will be permitted.
• It is not the policy or practice of the TPGL to balance the pairings throughout the year - i.e. give everyone an equal chance of playing with each player of the league throughout the year.
• The TPGL foursome pairings method (who signed up for a given round and the handicap ranking of signed-up players) can result in a player paired with the same player(s) over consecutive weeks.

SPECIAL PROVISIONS:

The TPGL foursome pairings and tee times policy will be the sole consideration of how players are paired and when they tee off. No exceptions to this policy will be granted except for the following provisions:

• Two players competing within a head to head match are always paired together.
• Players bringing a guest are expected to play with their guest (on days where there is no MAJOR event or days where the player has no head to head match scheduled).
• For all 2-day major events, final round pairings are determined by tournament scores. In the event of ties after the first round, the player who finished their round first goes off last (first in, last out, or FILO).
• For year end TPGL Tour Championship, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th round pairings are determined by tournament scores. In the event of ties after the first, or second, or third round, the player who finished their round first goes off last (first in, last out, or FILO).
