2019 Mid-Amateur Team & Senior Team Championships

We have a full field and lengthy wait list for this championship.  Any entered team that needs to withdraw should contact the KGA office ASAP so that we can contact the next team on the wait list.  Thank you!


Entry Priority Policy

 

Any team (same two players comprising the team) that entered this KGA men's championship each of the preceding two years shall have an entry priority over other earlier entrants that did not enter the event in both of those prior years.  This entry priority will be given to eligible entrants from February 4 to March 1 only.

Additionally, during the same entry priority window, half the total team field size will be reserved for Mid-Amateur Team teams.  The other half of the total team field size will be reserved for and Senior Team and Super Senior Team teams.  After the entry priority window passes on March 1, the field will be filled on a first come, first served basis until filled.  


Schedule of Events

Monday, May 6th -- First round (18 holes) - 8:00 am - #1 & #10 tees
Monday, May 6th -- Second round (18 holes) - 1:45 pm - #1 & #10 tees
Tuesday, May 7th -- Third round (18 holes) - 8:00 am - #1 & #10 tees

Eligibility

Mid-Amateur Team -- Male amateurs age 25 or older as of May 6, 2019. 
Senior Team -- Male amateurs age 50 or older as of May 6, 2019.
Super Senior Team - Male amateurs age 60 or older as of May 6, 2019.

Must be a male KGA member.

Entry Fee and Deadline

$360.  Deadline for entry is Friday, April 26th at 4:00 pm or when the field fills.

Field Size

56 teams total.

Format

54 holes of team stroke play contested over two days.  36 holes on day one, 18 holes on day two.  Different format each round.  There is no cut.

Round One - Shamble
Round Two - Foursomes
Round Three - Four-Ball

Divisions

Three divisions (Mid-Amateur, Senior, Super Senior).  Gross scoring only for Mid-Amateur division.  Gross & net scoring for senior divisions.

Course Set-Up

The golf course will be set-up at approximately:

  • 6,900 yards (Mid-Am)
  • 6,300 yards (Senior)
  • 6,000 yards (Super Senior)


Practice Round

No official practice round is offered, but times are available on Sunday, May 5th after 2:00 pm.  Contact the golf shop at Crestview Country Club to arrange a practice round starting time.  Cost of practice round including cart is $50 per player. 

Clubhouse and Practice Facilities

Clubhouse and practice facilities open one hour prior to the first starting time.  Practice facilities are for tournament contestants use only.

Defending Champions

In 2018 at Manhattan Country Club, Michael Hillyard & Matthew Quandt won their first KGA championship while cruising to an easy six shot victory.  The duo of Grant Vollertsen & TJ Vilkanskas finished in the runner-up position.   

In the Senior Team competition, the team of Randy Vautravers & Brian Burris were victorious by one shot over Steve Newman & Tracy Chamberlin.

In the Super Senior division, Wichita CC members Joe Rothwell & Stephen McKinney were victorious after edging Bill Quattlebaum and Ben York by a single stroke.

Carts, Spectators and Caddies

Carts are included for all rounds of the championship as part of your entry fee.  Caddies are allowed, but only one cart is allowed per team.  Spectators carts are allowed at the discretion and fee set by the host club.

Registration

There will be no registration at this event.  You are responsible to be at your assigned starting tee at least five (5) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time.  This will give you adequate time to receive instructions and information from the Starter.

Food & Beverage at Host Club

Food service will NOT be available at the host club on Monday during the first day of play.  Tee times for round two in the afternoon on day one of the championship will be scheduled to allow players/teams to leave property to grab a quick lunch and return to the host club for your round two afternoon tee time.  

Normal food service will be available on Tuesday for the second day of play at the host club.

Method of Payments

The host club accepts the following forms of payment:  Credit Card or Cash.

Close of Competition

The competition shall be deemed to have closed when the symbolic prize for the event has been presented, or if no ceremony, when all scores and results have been approved by the Committee.
