FORMAT/QUALIFYING PLACES

36 holes of individual stroke play for a number qualifying spots and alternate spots to be determined in the 2019 U.S. Women’s Open Championship to be played May 27 - June 2 at The Country Club of Charleston in Charleston, SC.

PRACTICE ROUND

One practice round per player. Practice rounds will be available on the designated times below two weeks prior to the competition. Please call Druid Hills GC to reserve your practice round starting time. Practice round fees are $30 plus tax and must be paid regardless of whether or not the player chooses to walk or ride. Cash and credit cards will be accepted methods of payment in the golf shop.

  • Tuesday, anytime based on availability
  • Friday and Sunday, after 1 p.m. based on availability

YARDAGES & TEES

A yardage sheet will be available on-site and also through a link/download on the event portal on the GSGA website. Yardages are approximate and may be adjusted due to inclement weather or other factors that may affect the playing conditions during the competition.

GOLF SHOP & DRIVING RANGE

The golf shop and driving range will open at 6:30 a.m. each day of competition.

STARTING TIMES

Starting times for tournament play will be assigned by the USGA/GSGA and posted at the club the day before the competition starts. You may visit www.gsga.org for complete pairing information and starting times beginning on May 3. 

REGISTRATION

No formal registration will be held on site. Players should arrive to their assigned starting tee ten minutes before their starting time to allow for the starter to go over instructions and rules of play. Player withdraws must be called in to the GSGA office at (678) 324-5969 or e-mailed to JFAGES@GSGA.ORG.

CARTS

Practice round fees are $30 plus tax. Cash and credit cards will be accepted. During the qualifying round, a caddie may transport a player’s bag on a cart for a fee of $30 plus tax.  Spectator carts are strictly prohibited at all USGA qualifying rounds.

CADDIES

Players may provide their own caddie. Caddies are not available from the host club.

RULES OF PLAY/PACE OF PLAY/CART POLICY

The USGA Rules of Play, Pace of Play and Cart Policies shall be in effect. Click here to view policies.

PREFERED LIES

Per the USGA, for all USGA Championships and qualifying rounds, the following policy is in effect: A Local Rule authorizing “Preferred Lies” or “Winter Rules” is NEVER permitted.

FOOD SERVICE

Food and beverage items will be available at the Golf House grill for over the counter, lunch buffet will be set up in the clubhouse.

PRIZES

Silver medals will be presented to the low scorer and low amateur at the conclusion of the qualifying rounds.

PERSONAL APPEARANCE

In Local and Sectional Qualifying stages and the Championship proper, players must be neat in appearance with respect to clothing and personal grooming. The Committee in charge decides whether this requirement has been met, and has the authority to withdraw the entry of a player who does not comply. The wearing of short pants is prohibited in the Championship proper, but is permissible in Local and Sectional Qualifying provided the host club does not have a dress code prohibiting such.
