FORMAT/QUALIFYING PLACES

18 holes of individual stroke play for 4 qualifying spots and 2 alternate spots to advance to the 2019 U.S. Junior Championship to be played July 15-20 at Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio

PRACTICE ROUND

Practice rounds will be available based on club availability on the dates and times designated below.  Players must call the University of Georgia Golf Course golf shop at (706) 369-5739 to make arrangements for a starting time.  One complimentary walking practice round per player will be allowed, and practice rounds will be limited to contestants only.  Carts may be rented for $30 to players possessing a valid driver’s license or to parents.

  • Monday-Thursday, anytime
  • Friday-Sunday after 1:00 p.m.

YARDAGES & TEES

A yardage sheet will be available on-site and also through a link/download on the GSGA website. Yardages are approximate and may be adjusted due to inclement weather that may affect the playing conditions during the competition.

GOLF SHOP & DRIVING RANGE

The golf shop and driving range will open at 6:30 a.m. each day of competition.

STARTING TIMES

Starting times for tournament play will be assigned by the USGA/GSGA and posted at the club the day before the competition starts. You may visit www.gsga.org for complete pairing information and starting times beginning on June 21. 

REGISTRATION

No formal registration will be held on site. Players should arrive to their assigned starting tee ten minutes before their starting time to allow for the starter to go over instructions and rules of play. Player withdraws must be called in to the GSGA office at (678) 324-5974 or e-mailed to radams@gsga.org

CARTS

Carts will be available for persons transporting players' bags on June 24.  Cart rental fee is $30.00, per 18 holes.  Cash and credit cards will be accepted. Per the USGA, NO SPECTATOR CARTS WILL BE ALLOWED.

CADDIES

No caddies are available at University of Georgia Golf Course.  The player is solely responsible for making arrangements for a caddie.  A player may provide his own caddie.  Players may not use parents, step-parents or guardians as caddies during Sectional Qualifying or the Championship proper.  A player is not required to employ a caddie for any stage of the Championship.

PREFERRED LIES

Per the USGA, for all USGA Championships and qualifying rounds, the following policy is in effect: A Local Rule authorizing “Preferred Lies” or “Winter Rules” is NEVER permitted.

FOOD SERVICE

Food and beverage service will be available starting at 7:00 a.m. in the Champions Café. Players may pay with cash or credit cards for purchases.

PRIZE

A Silver medal will be presented to the low scorer at the conclusion of the qualifying round.

PERSONAL APPEARANCE

In Local and Sectional Qualifying stages and the Championship proper, players must be neat in appearance with respect to clothing and personal grooming. The Committee in charge decides whether this requirement has been met, and has the authority to withdraw the entry of a player who does not comply. The wearing of short pants is prohibited in the Championship proper, but is permissible in Local and Sectional Qualifying provided the host club does not have a dress code prohibiting such.
