FIELD SIZE

132 players maximum

FORMAT/QUALIFYING PLACES

5 (five) qualifying places and 2 alternate positions.  All contestants will play the first 18-hole round scheduled for Tuesday, July 16.  Upon its completion, the field will be cut for the second round scheduled for Wednesday, July 17, to the low 40% of the field and ties, based on the number of players that start round one.  Those that advance will compete in the 2019 U.S. Amateur Championship to be played August 12-18 at Pinehurst Resort.

PRACTICE ROUND

One practice round per player. Practice rounds will be available on the designated times below two weeks prior to the competition. Please call CCC – Crabapple to reserve your practice round starting time. Practice round fees are $30 plus tax and must be paid regardless of whether or not the player chooses to walk or ride. Only credit cards will be accepted methods of payment in the golf shop.  Monday, July 15 practice rounds are limited to players travelling from more than 100 miles to the qualifying site.

  • Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, anytime based on availability.
  • Friday, after 1 p.m. based on availability.

YARDAGES & TEES

A combination of yardages will be used.  Yardages are approximate and may be adjusted due to inclement weather or other factors that may affect the playing conditions during the competition.

GOLF SHOP & DRIVING RANGE

The golf shop and driving range will open at 7:00 a.m. each day of competition.

STARTING TIMES

Starting times for tournament play will be assigned by the USGA/GSGA and posted at the club the day before the competition starts. You may visit www.gsga.org for complete pairing information and starting times beginning on June 28. 

CADDIES/PUSH CARTS

Players may provide their own caddie. The club will have push carts available on a first come, first serve basis. Outside push carts are allowed but the club reserves the right to refuse a cart that does not adhere to their policies i.e. remote controlled carts

PRIZES

A silver medal will be presented to the low scorer at the conclusion of the qualifying rounds.

REGISTRATION

No formal registration will be held on site. Players should arrive to their assigned starting tee ten minutes before their starting time to allow for the starter to go over instructions and rules of play. Player withdraws must be called in to the GSGA office at (678) 324-5975 or e-mailed to mmccachern@gsga.org

PREFERRED LIES

Per the USGA, for all USGA Championships and qualifying rounds, the following policy is in effect: A Local Rule authorizing “Preferred Lies” or “Winter Rules” is NEVER permitted.

FOOD SERVICE

Food and beverage items will be available throughout the event.

CASH ONLY will be accepted for F & B.

PERSONAL APPEARANCE

In Local and Sectional Qualifying stages and the Championship proper, players must be neat in appearance with respect to clothing and personal grooming. The Committee in charge decides whether this requirement has been met, and has the authority to withdraw the entry of a player who does not comply. The wearing of short pants is prohibited in the Championship proper, but is permissible in Local and Sectional Qualifying provided the host club does not have a dress code prohibiting such.

CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION - The following conditions shall be in effect for this competition:

  • GSGA competitions are "spikeless" events. Therefore, metal and traditionally-designed spikes are prohibited. Penalty for breach of this condition is disqualification.
  • Players are responsible for posting their scores to the handicap system upon conclusion of this competition. Scores must be posted as tournament scores. Course slope and rating information is typically posted at the scoreboard during the competition. You may also contact GSGA for this information. Your scores are subject to review by your peers and your club's handicap committee.
