FORMAT/QUALIFYING PLACES

18 holes of individual stroke play for 4 qualifying spots and 2 alternate spots to advance to the 2019 USGA Senior Amateur Championship to be played August 24-29 at Old Chatham Golf Club in Durham, NC.

PRACTICE ROUND

One practice round per player. Practice rounds will be available on the designated times below two weeks prior to the competition. Please call the Country Club of The South to reserve your practice round starting time. Practice round fees are $30 plus tax and must be paid regardless of whether or not the player chooses to walk or ride. Cash and credit cards will be accepted methods of payment in the golf shop.

  • Tuesday and Thursday, anytime based on availability.

YARDAGES & TEES

A yardage sheet will be available on-site and also through a link/download on the GSGA website after July 16. Yardages are approximate and may be adjusted due to inclement weather or other factors that may affect the playing conditions during the competition.

GOLF SHOP & DRIVING RANGE

The golf shop and driving range will open at 7:00 a.m. each day of competition.

STARTING TIMES

Starting times for tournament play will be assigned by the USGA/GSGA and posted at the club the day before the competition starts. You may visit www.gsga.org for complete pairing information and starting times beginning on August 2nd. 

REGISTRATION

No formal registration will be held on site. Players should arrive to their assigned starting tee ten minutes before their starting time to allow for the starter to go over instructions and rules of play. Player withdraws must be called in to the GSGA office at (678) 324-5975 or e-mailed to mmccachern@gsga.org

CARTS

Golf cart fees are included in your practice round fee which is $30 per player.  Spectator golf carts are specifically prohibited.  During the qualifying round, automotive transportation is permissible for the competitor or caddie, but not both at the same time.  Cart fees for the qualifying round are $30 per person if the player chooses to use a cart. 

PRIZES

A Silver medal will be presented to the low scorer at the conclusion of the qualifying round.

PREFERRED LIES

Per the USGA, for all USGA Championships and qualifying rounds, the following policy is in effect: A Local Rule authorizing “Preferred Lies” or “Winter Rules” is NEVER permitted.

FOOD SERVICE

Food and beverage items will be available throughout the day at the turn stand and the men’s grill.

PERSONAL APPEARANCE

In Sectional Qualifying stages and the Championship proper, players must be neat in appearance with respect to clothing and personal grooming. The Committee in charge decides whether this requirement has been met, and has the authority to withdraw the entry of a player who does not comply.

CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION - The following conditions shall be in effect for this competition:

  • GSGA competitions are "spikeless" events. Therefore, metal and traditionally-designed spikes are prohibited. Penalty for breach of this condition is disqualification.
  • Players are responsible for posting their scores to the handicap system upon conclusion of this competition. Scores must be posted as tournament scores. Course slope and rating information is typically posted at the scoreboard during the competition. You may also contact GSGA for this information. Your scores are subject to review by your peers and your club's handicap committee.
