Since 1895, Pinehurst and Championship Golf have been synonymous.  Pinehurst held its first marquee event in 1902, The North South Amateur, today a staple in competitive amateur golf. Subsequently Pinehurst has had the privilege to host the PGA Championship (1936), US Amateur (1962 and 2008), Men’s US Open (1999, 2004, 2014) and the Women’s US Open (2014).  Now, you will have the opportunity to play where the greats have played.

 

 

FORMAT:   ALTERNATE SHOT (“PINEHURST” or “CHAPMAN”):  Both players tee off on every hole; each player then plays his partner’s ball for the second stroke.  After the second stroke, partners select one ball and play that ball alternately until the ball is holed.  A ball shall never be stroked consecutively by the same player.  A stroke so made shall be replayed by the correct player, with a two-stroke penalty added to the team’s score. Penalty strokes do not alter the sequence of play; however, they are, of course, added to the team’s score returned for that particular hole.  Unless “Preferred Lies” are in effect, each player plays his partner’s ball “as it lies”.

TEES:    15 to 18 Div. – Boys play CUSTOM tees. Adult Males play GREEN tees. Adult Females Play RED tees.

               12 to 14 Div. – Boys play GREEN tees. Adult Males play GREEN tees. Adult Females Play RED tees.

               11 & Under Div. – Boys play RED tees. Adult Male play GREEN tees. Adult Females Play RED tees.

               15 to 18 Girls Div – Girls play GREEN tees. Adult Male play GREEN tees. Adult Females Play RED tees.

               12 to 14 Girls Div – Girls play RED tees. Adult Male play GREEN tees. Adult Females Play RED tees.

               11 & Under Girls Div. – Girls play Yellow tees. Adult Male play GREEN tees. Adult Females Play RED tees.
