It was the Teebirds next to the last outing of the season held at Prairie Vista for a Texas Scramble. Due to illiness, injuries and out of town travel, only 13 Teebirds formed four teams. Each team seemed to play with passion as the scores were quite good ranging from a low of 34 to the high of 37. Hank Campbell filled in for Dave Williams who came down ill, as our Starter. Other Teebirds helped adjust the groups and got to tee off a bit early!
The Team of Ken Brooks, Dave Strand and Skip Southwick prevailed as the leading group with a 34, two under par. The reward is a PRIZE Ball for each member! They scored three birdies and one boggie for their solid round. No special events were submitted. (Not even having 2 left-handed players on the same team!)
Roger Can, Gary Klass and Larry Lowe hit the ball well enough to score 2 birdies with one boggie for a Team score of 35, one under for the 9-hole round. No special events were submitted.
Dave Anderson, Dick Moore, John Walker and Penny Stephens scored all holes with pars ending with an even par 36. On the scorecard, it was noticed that the Team used Penny Stephens drive on the par 5 fourth hole. Way to go Penny! However, no special shots of note were submitted.
The last place Team was Wayne Lockwood, Hank Campbell and Chuck McGuire. They said they had their chances but missed some short putts. They had one birdie and two boggies that gave them a 37. Wayne did hit a very nice shot on the par 3 # 5 hole that was 7' from the hole. He made the birdie putt alone giving the team a birdie for the hole. Thanks, Wayne!
PRIZE BALLS: Ken B, Dave S and Skip S.
Thanks to all who played today! Of note, we have not been rained out on a Thursday all through the season! Just the luck of a Teebird!
Next week is our final play date, September 26th, and it is at our home course, ISU Weibring. Wayne Lockwood will be our Starter. We will end with a Championship Shamble followed by a luncheon at 11 from Times Past Inn. There will be special events on various holes with individual prizes awarded. Come join the fun of the luncheon even if you cannot play. Please invite a guest or spouse. Let Sandy or Roger know if guests are joining us so we can have a good count for the lunch.
