Rules of Play

 

FORMAT: 36 Hole Competition with Four Unique Formats

Tomahawk Course – Front Nine (1-9) Scramble; Back Nine (10-18) Modified Chapman

Arrowhead Course – Front Nine (1-9) Low Ball; Back Nine (10-18) Team Total (Both Scores Added)

 

U.S.G.A. RULES GOVERN PLAY WITH THE FOLLOWING LOCAL RULES IN EFFECT:

 

  1. You may improve the lie of the ball one club-length no nearer the hole in the fairway being played.  You may improve the lie of the ball one-grip length in the rough being played.

 

2.             Tees: 50 – 64 Years of Age Red Tees; 65 Years & Above Yellow Tees; All Ladies White Tees

                                All Nicklaus Flight Players will play the Red Tees regardless of AGE

 

3.             You may drop one club-length from all cart paths (concrete, asphalt, or dirt) if your ball, stance or swing is impaired. (Nearest point of relief no nearer hole, no penalty.)  You may also drop from all areas near and adjacent to cart trails that are obvious abnormal course conditions.

 

4.             All Putts MUST be holed out. NO GIMMIES!

 

5.             You may drop from all areas marked with White Paint as abnormal course conditions (ball and stance).

 

6.             Penalty Areas are marked are with Red Lines or Stakes.  Lines will supercede stakes.

 

  1. Yardages are measured to the middle of the greens.

 

  1. Ties for Flight Winners will be decided sudden death beginning on hole # 1 of the course your flight played on Saturday proceeding in order until a winner is established using the Scramble Format for Tomahawk Players and using Low Ball Format for Arrowhead Players.  All other ties will be decided sudden death by the scorecard beginning on hole #18 and moving backwards until winners are established using the Course your Flight played on Saturday.

 

  1. Ball Accidentally Moved on the Putting Green: If a ball is accidentally moved on the putting green no matter what the circumstance, ball must be replaced with NO PENALTY.

 

Scramble Front Nine Tomahawk (Holes 1-9) – Standard two-person scramble format.

 

Low Ball Front Nine Arrowhead (Holes 1-9) – Each person plays their own ball recording the lower score of the two partners on that hole.

 

Modified Chapman Back Nine Tomahawk (Holes 10-18) – Both team members play tee shots, then they switch and play each others tee balls as second shots; at this point the team decides which ball they will continue with abandoning the other ball; The format now switches to alternate shot until the ball is holed with the player who’s original tee shot is in play starting the alternate shot rotation.  This procedure is followed on all 9 holes for this Format.  (Par 3’s, Par 4’s & Par 5’s.)  Penalty shots affect score, but do not affect rotation.

 

Team Total Back Nine Arrowhead (Holes 10-18) – Both team members will play their own golf ball for the entire hole.  Teams will add both scores together to get one score for the team.  Ex. Player 1 makes a 5 and Player 2 makes a 3, the team score would be 8.  The maximum a player can make on a hole is double par.  Ex. If a player lies 8 on a Par 4, they may without penalty pick up their ball and proceed to the next teeing ground marking an 8 for their portion of the team score. For scoring purposes please mark each player’s individual score on the scorecard.
