The mission of the Junior Series is to promote the enjoyment of golf by junior golfers through affordable and competitive playing opportunities in professionally supervised events administered by Rocky Mountain PGA Professionals.

Dedicated to nurturing and instilling positive life skills, the Junior Series focuses on teaching the values of sportsmanship, honesty, self-discipline, integrity and competitive spirit through the conduct of 36-hole golf championships.

Junior Series Championships are open to boys and girls ages 12 to 18. All Junior Series Championships are conducted in Boys and Girls divisions with the following age groups: Ages 12-14 and 15-18. Age and competing age group is determined by a competitor’s age as of the date of the last round of an event. Individuals must compete within either their assigned age group or older age group. Competing age group must be declared at the time of entry and may not be changed following the entry deadline date. Individuals not declaring a competing age group at the time of entry will automatically be entered into an age group based on actual age.

Proper sportsmanship and etiquette are important elements of the Junior Series. To promote these values and to maintain the integrity of the events, the following applies:

Appearance — All contestants must be neat in appearance with respect to personal grooming and clothing. Shirts must be clean, neat, and in current golf fashion with shirttails tucked in. T-shirts and tank tops are never acceptable. Shorts shall be Bermuda length and/or in current golf fashion. Jeans and denim pants and shorts are discouraged.

Conduct — Conduct unbecoming and deemed unacceptable, by the sole judgment of the Rocky Mountain PGA, will not be tolerated. Contestants whose conduct is deemed unbecoming will be warned, however, based on the sole judgment of the Rocky Mountain PGA, a contestant may be immediately disqualified from competition for unbecoming conduct. In any event, no contestant will receive more than one warning. Examples of unbecoming conduct include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Throwing and/or breaking clubs; abusive or profane language; use of alcoholic beverages, tobacco and/or illegal drugs; gambling; cheating; intentional damage to the course or facility; and/or displaying disrespect to RMSPGA staff, facility staff, sponsors, volunteers, competitors or spectators.

Spectator Conduct — Spectators are welcome. The following spectator rules apply:

• Spectators shall remain on cart paths when available. Otherwise, spectators must remain in the rough. In any case, spectators should maintain a distance of a minimum of 25 yards from competitors.
• No carts will be allowed. Spectators may request a cart under the ADA. A cart, as a reasonable accommodation, will be afforded (a fee may be required) upon request to an official in charge.
• Use of cell phones are not allowed outside the clubhouse facility.
• Spectators shall not provide advice, as defined by the Rules of Golf, to competitors.
• Spectators may speak to competitors provided they do not provide advice, as above.
• Spectators may not carry and/or move a competitor’s clubs, bag or push/pull cart.
• Spectators may carry water, towels, umbrellas, jackets, or food for competitors.
• Spectators may assist competitors searching for golf balls.
• Under no circumstances should a spectator touch a golf ball nor recommend a ruling of any kind.

The Rocky Mountain PGA reserves the right, at its discretion, to ask spectators to leave the course should it be deemed their conduct be detrimental to the competitors and/or the event.

 

The entry fee for each event is $75. Each event will be limited to 50 players. Entries will be accepted on-line only and on a first-come, first-served basis. Entries must be submitted on-line by 4:00 PM MDT on the stated event deadline. Telephone entries will not be accepted. The Rocky Mountain PGA is not responsible for rejected payment.

Refunds will be issued for withdrawals prior to 4:00 PM MDT on the day preceding the official practice round. Refunds for withdrawals following this time will be issued only in the case of injury or disability which requires medical attention or serious personal emergency. Competitors must contact the Rocky Mountain PGA to withdraw. If a competitor must withdraw during an event, he/she must notify a tournament official on-site. If a competitor fails to properly withdraw from an event he/she may be subjected to suspension from future Junior Series events.

Caddies and automotive transportation are not permitted. Competitors must walk at all times, except when permitted by the on-site Rules Committee to ride. Anyone seeking use of a cart due to a disability defined under the ADA must submit a written request to the Rocky Mountain PGA 7 days prior to the competition.

All play will be governed by the Rules of Golf and where applicable, by the Local Rules and Conditions set by the Rocky Mountain PGA. Questions shall be settled by the designated Rules Committee, whose decision shall be final.

The official practice round day for each event is the day prior to the first round. Contestants are required to make their own arrangements regarding practice rounds. Each facility is required to reserve limited starting times for practice rounds. Practice rounds will be granted on a space available basis and a fee is required.

Competitors must return a signed scorecard, even if marked “no card,” for each round in which they begin play. Failure to do so may subject the competitor to suspension from future Junior Series events.

All contestants are expected to maintain the host facility by repairing ball marks, raking bunkers, replacing divots, etc. Any abuse to the host facility and/or failure to maintain the host facility may subject the contestant to suspension from future Junior Series events.

Competition course yardages will be set to provide a challenging but fair competition. In general, the following tee placement guideline will be used:
