Eligibility

Male amateurs age 50 or older as of August 19, 2019.  Must be a KGA member.

Entry Fee and Deadline

$165.  Deadline for entry is Monday, August 12th at 4:00 pm.

Format

36 holes of individual stroke play with two divisions.  Players that wish to compete for the overall championship must enter the Senior Division.  Champion to be determined in each division.  The event may be shortened to 18 holes if weather cancels either round.  Gift certificates from the host club will be awarded in amounts to be determined based on the number of total entries within each division.

Divisions

Two divisions:

  • Senior (any age - gross & net)
  • Super Senior (age 60 & older - gross & net)

 

Players that wish to compete for the overall championship must enter the Senior Division.

Course Set-Up

The golf course will be set-up at yardages for each division.  Click here for hole by hole yardage information.

 

  • 6,550 yards (Senior Division)
  • 6,200 yards (Super Senior Division)


Practice Round

New in 2019, the total entry fee for the championship was reduced and a practice round is no longer included as part of the entry fee.  Practice round cost is $65 which includes golf, cart and practice facility usage on Sunday, August 18th.  Please contact the golf shop at Firekeeper Golf Course to schedule a practice round. 

Clubhouse and Practice Facilities

Clubhouse and practice facilities open one hour prior to the first starting time.  Practice facilities are for tournament contestants use only.

Defending Champions

Mission Hills resident and Salina CC member Bryan Norton claimed his third Kansas Senior Amateur Championship title in dominant fashion.  Norton bested the field by eight shots after finishing at 10-under par 132 total.  Lawrence's Michael Rack finished in second place at 2-under par 140. 

In the Super Senior Division, Salina resident and Salina CC member Greg Goode added to his trophy case and incredible 2018 season with a easy six shot victory.  Goode finished at 8-under par 134 total.  Frank Roth and John Beury finished in a tie for runner-up at 2-under par 140 total. 


Carts, Spectators and Caddies

Carts are included for both rounds of the championship as part of your entry fee.  Only two carts are allowed per starting time.  Spectators and caddies are always welcome at KGA championships.

Registration

There will be no registration at this event.  You are responsible to be at your assigned starting tee at least five (5) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time.  This will give you adequate time to receive instructions and information from the Starter.

Score Posting

Scores from each round of this championship will be posted to the GHIN Handicap System using ESC (equitable stroke control).

Method of Payments

Firekeeper Golf Course accepts all forms of payment for purchases.

Close of Competition

The competition shall be deemed to have closed when the symbolic prize for the event has been presented, or if no ceremony, when all scores and results have been approved by the Committee.
