Eligibility


Male amateurs regardless of age or affiliation.

Entry Fee and Deadline

$135.  Deadline for entry is Friday, August 16th at 4:00 pm.

Format

36 holes of individual stroke play with three age divisions.  Champion to be determined in each division.  The event may be shortened to 18 holes if weather cancels either round.  Gift certificates from the host club will be awarded in amounts to be determined based on the number of total entries within each division.

Divisions

Three age divisions:

  • Open (any age, gross scoring only)
  • Masters (at least 35 years old as of August 24, 2019; gross & net scoring)
  • Senior (at least 50 years old as of August 24, 2019; gross & net scoring)


 

Pairings and Order of Play

All players will be paired in groups of three for all rounds and courses.

Round One Order of Play (by division): Determined by course starting schedule

Round Two Order of Play (by division): Senior, Masters, Open


Course Set-Up

The golf course will be set-up at approximately:

  • 6,920 yards (Open Division)
  • 6,600 yards (Masters Division)
  • 6,300 yards (Senior Division)


Players Lunch

As part of your entry fee, the KGA will provide lunch to all players during both rounds of the championship.

Practice Round


Please contact the golf shop at Mariah Hills Golf Course at (620) 225-8182 to arrange a practice round.  Cost is $20 (cart included).

Par 3 Contest

Mariah Hills Golf Course will be hosting a Par 3 Contest on Friday evening (August 23) before the championship begins on Saturday.  Par 3 Contest will begin at 5:30 pm.  No entry fee.  Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. 

An awards and welcome reception will be held for all contestants following the Par 3 Contest.


Clubhouse and Practice Facilities

Clubhouse and practice facilities open one hour prior to the first starting time.  Practice facilities are for tournament contestants use only.

Defending Champions

Lawrence's Josh Williams claimed his first KGA individual championship in 2018 at Mariah Hills Golf Course.  Williams posted a phenomenal final round 4-under par 67 to propel himself into the winners circle at 3-under par 139 total.  Perry's William Gantz finished in second place.  In the Masters Division, Junction City's Andrew King was victorious after edging Garden City's Shawn Audrain by one shot.  In the Senior Division, Salina's Greg Goode was again victorious on his way to capturing 2018 KGA Senior Player of the Year honors.

Carts, Spectators and Caddies

Carts are available at the expense of the player.  Only two carts are allowed per starting time.  Spectators and caddies are always welcome at KGA Championships.  Spectator carts are available at the discretion and price set by the host club.

Registration

There will be no registration at this event.  You are responsible to be at your assigned starting tee at least five (5) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time.  This will give you adequate time to receive instructions and information from the Starter.

Score Posting


Scores from each round of this championship will be posted to the GHIN Handicap System using ESC (equitable stroke control).

Mariah Hills Golf Course accepts cash or credit card for all purchases.

Close of Competition

The competition shall be deemed to have closed when the symbolic prize for the event has been presented, or if no ceremony, when all scores and results have been approved by the Committee.
