ELIGIBILITY

 

The championship is restricted to Maine resident amateurs who have not yet reached their 19th birthday on July 30, 2019. All players must be enrolled in the 2019 Junior Golf Maine Player’s Program to apply.

 

Juniors who summer in Maine, who are members of an MSGA member club and who compete in at least five MSGA Junior Tour events are also eligible for the Junior Championship (but not our other championships).

 

ENTRY INFORMATION

 

All players must file an entry for the championship. Players may apply for the championship either online at www.mesga.org or by paper application. Entries will not be taken over the phone.

 

The championship will be contested in five divisions: Boys 12 & Under, 13-15, and 16-18; Girls 15 & Under, 16-18. Play will be 18 holes per day for all divisions except the 12 & Under division, who will play 9 holes each day.

 

Cost: The entry fee for the championship is $45.

 

Entry deadline for all players is July 19, 2019 at 5:00 pm.

 

Players are reminded to apply early to allow time for resolving any errors, an incomplete application, or for not adhering to the eligibility as prescribed above.

 

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

 

The championship will consist of 36 holes of stroke play for all divisions except the 12 & Under division, who will play 18 holes (9 holes per day).

 

Tuesday, July 30:  First round, 18 holes

 

Wednesday, July 31: Second round, 18 holes

 

In the event of a tie in any flight, the winner will be decided immediately by a hole-by-hole playoff.

 

PRIZES

 

Winner: Crystal trophy for the winner of each division.

 

Runner-up: Silver medal for the runner-up in each division.

 

Top finishers: Prize money, determined by finishing position, in the form of a gift card to Golf & Ski Warehouse.

 

RULES OF GOLF

 

All play will be governed by The Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA, except as modified by Local Rules. The on-site Rules Committee will have the final authority on all rulings. The competition is deemed to be closed when the trophy is awarded to the champion.

 

PRACTICE PRIVELIGES

 

A separate email will be sent to all players in the championship proper for practice round information at Val Halla GC.

 

CONDITIONS AND SCHEDULES

 

The MSGA Tournament Committee/on-site Rules Committee reserves the right to alter any of the conditions, provisions, and/or schedules herein. The decision of the Tournament Committee/on-site Rules Committee in any matter is final.

 

EXEMPTIONS

 

The overall boys champion will receive an automatic berth on the Maine team in the 2019 New England Junior Invitational.

 

WITHDRAWAL AND REFUND POLICY

 

Advanced entry fees will be refunded regardless of reason if the MSGA is notified before the close of entries. The MSGA will refund all of the entry fee, less $5, to cover processing fees and associated costs. Refunds of entries made by credit or debit card will be applied to that same card, in keeping with proper merchant processing protocol. After the close of entries, fees will be refunded only if the tournament remains full or in the event of injury or illness. No refunds will be given after the start of the tournament. Unusual circumstances will be considered individually.

 

STARTING TIMES

 

After the application deadline, starting times will be posted at www.mesga.org, as well as emailed to all players in the field. Starting times will be made public no less than four days before the tournament begins.
