MEMORANDUM TO CONTESTANTS

U.S. WOMEN’S AMATEUR FOUR-BALL CHAMPIONSHIP

 

The AGA and the USGA are grateful to Longbow Golf Club for hosting this USGA qualifying event. Please remember that we are their guests and our conduct should reflect our thanks. Field Size & Qualifying Spots

There were 46 contestants (23 teams) in the field at entry deadline.  Participants (teams) will be vying for 3 qualifying spots (teams) for the championship, and 2 alternate positions. In case of a tie for the final qualifying spot or either of the two alternate positions, an immediate hole-by-hole playoff will be conducted for the contestants involved.

 

Pairings & Assigned Start Times

Pairings and order of play were prepared by the USGA and starting times will assigned by the AWGA. Changes to pairings or start times are not permissible for any reason. This is an 18-hole qualifier. Morning tee times have been reserved for our field, beginning at 7:50 a.m. Final pairings are in the “Players and Pairings” section of this event portal.

 

Use of Golf Carts

Use of automotive transportation by contestants is prohibited, however, Caddies may use motorized carts. The cart fee of $25 is payable to the golf course prior to the start of the round. Spectators and guests are not allowed to ride in carts. Push carts are permitted; however, participants will need to provide their own as the course does not have these available for rent.  

 

Practice Rounds

Practice round are available on Sunday, January 27 AFTER 12p.m. and may be scheduled by calling the golf shop at (480) 807-5400 . Sunday’s rate is $84 (plus tax), including a motorized cart. Practice rounds scheduled for any other day are not eligible for this special rate and are based on availability. USGA Policies in Effect

  1. Alternate Footwear Policy shall be in effect. (No metal or traditionally designed spikes. Click here for more information on the Footwear Policy and other USGA Conditions of Competition)
  2. The ball each contestant uses shall be named on the current List of Conforming Golf Balls issued by the USGA, and the “One-Ball Rule” shall be in effect.

Directions to the Course

The course is located off of the North Loop 202 in Mesa just south of the freeway. The following link, http://www.longbowgolf.com/-directions provides driving directions.

 

Course Set up

The course shall be played from a mixed set of tees. The score card for the practice round will be available at the golf shop and as found in the “Yardages” section of this portal. The Committee reserves the right to alter the yardage based on weather and course conditions the day of the qualifying. All Local Rules will be listed on the Notice to Contestants. The USGA Hard Card will be attached with the conditions of competition.

 

Pace of Play Policy – The group pace of play policy is in effect for this competition. See pace of play information, attached, for details.

 

Practice Facilities & Registration

All practice facilities will open at 6:30 a.m. Registration will open at 7:00 a.m. and will be located on the west side of the golf shop. Please also note that players will need to arrive at the first tee at least 5 minutes prior to the assigned start time for instructions and materials.

 

Food & Beverage Service

Breakfast, (the grill opens at 7:00 a.m.), and lunch are available for purchase using cash or credit card. Please allow for ample time in obtaining food as there is only one counter and it will take some time. Water and ice are available at the club house, at the tee of hole #5, and the tee of hole #14. There will be no beverage cart on the golf course. 

 

Dress Code

Appropriate golf attire is required.

To Withdraw

If you find it necessary to withdraw for any reason, you must notify both the USGA and the AGA prior to your assigned starting time. Contact the AGA at 602-944-3035, and the USGA at 908-234-2300.
