EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Metacomet Golf Club already had a target on its back as the defending Mulligan Interclub Team Champions.

Add on having to defend its home turf.

For the second consecutive year, Metacomet claimed the Mulligan Interclub with a four-man total of 294. The team of Jamie Lukowicz, Jason Kalin, Mike Caparco, Sr., Mike Caparco, Jr. and Ryan Porter won by 13 shots at their home club (par 70, 6,475 yards) over Pawtucket Country Club.

The format for the Mulligan is individual stroke play with the best four scores of five counting.

Lukowicz, the 2019 club champion at Metacomet, was the captain of the group that can be seen together on the Metacomet grounds on a consistent basis.

"It was a lot of fun out there," said Lukowicz, 45, of Coventry, R.I. "You are grinding for four solid scores out of five. We had a great team this year."

Kalin carded the low round of the day with a 69 to be the medalist. His round was the only one at par or better. The next best score was Wannamoisett Country Club's Jeff Furtado with a 71.

"It always feels good to get a win of any kind," said Lukowicz. "It's nice to have the medalist for the day on our team. As a captain, you are always looking out for your guys, rooting them on and seeing how they are doing. It was nice to defend our title at home."
