96th Father & Son Championship and 8th Parent & Child Net Championship

This notice serves as confirmation for 96th West Penn Father & Son Championship and 8th Parent Child Net Championship on Monday, June 24, 2019 at Cranberry Highlands Golf Course in Cranberry, PA.

 

 Format—18 Holes of Stroke Play, Chapman Format. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. In the event of a tie for first place a playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee as soon as practical. The Father & Son Championship will be playing for the gross prize only. The Parent & Child Championship will be playing for the net prize only.

 

Tee Markers— All play for the Father & Son Championship is from the BLUE WPGA tee markers, which will play at roughly 6,500 yards. All play for the Parent & Child Net Championship will be from the WHITE WPGA tee markers, which will play at roughly 6,000 yards.

 

CHAPMAN OR PINEHURST STROKE PLAY

In Chapman or Pinehurst stroke play, two players play as partners, each playing from the teeing ground and each playing his partner’s ball for the second shot. After the second shot, partners select the ball with which they wish to score, and play that ball alternately to complete the hole.

Provisional Balls First stroke-Each contestant may hit a provisional ball for his ball which may be lost or out of bounds. All other strokes-During the alternate stroke portion of each hole, if a side elects to play a provisional ball, it shall be played by the partner of the player whose ball may be lost or out of bounds. Except in a Penalty Area - The player is to place a ball in the nearest lie most similar to the original lie that is not more than one club-length from the original lie, not nearer the hole and not in a penalty area.

In a Penalty Area - If the original ball is in a water hazard, the ball must be placed in a water hazard.

In a Bunker - If the original ball is in a bunker, the original lie must be re-created as nearly as possible and ball must be placed in that lie.

 

Practice: Practice rounds can be scheduled by contacting the golf shop at 724-776-7372. The PGA Golf Professional's are Jody Barrett and Shawn McCall. Practice rounds are available by calling the pro shop or making a tee time online. Practice round fees are the responsibility of the player. Practice rounds will be at the prevailng daily rate and can be found on the Cranberry Highlands website.

 

Transportation/Caddies: Automotive transportation is permitted for the competition and included in the entry fee. Players may bring their own caddies if they choose. Caddies must walk in performance of their duties.

 

Lodging: Lodging of various price ranges can be found in the Cranberry, PA  area. You may also create an account with Affinity Travel Benefits here and find lodging to close to the tournament site on the Association Tournaments tab.

 

Food: The WPGA provides water on course, coffee & juices prior to the competition and lunch will be provided after the competition. All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player.

 

Footwear: METAL CLEATS ARE PROHIBITED. THE PENALTY IS DISQUALIFICATION.

 

Pace of Play: The maximum allowable time will be four hours and twenty-five minutes (4:25). The Pace of Play Policy can be found HERE.

 

Spectator Info: No spectator carts will be permitted for the competition without pre-approved ADA verification. Please contact the WPGA office for ADA guidelines. ADA carts are based on availability. Spectators may purchase lunches at their own expense. Directions to the club can be found on the Cranberry Highlands Golf Course website.
