2019 WVGA Amateur Tour Tournament Information

 

 

Entry Fee: $75 per event

 

Eligibility: Contestants may be a male or female golfer who is an active member of the WVGA with a USGA Handicap Index.

 

Format: 18-hole individual stroke play competitions. All WVGA Amateur Tour events are 10:00AM shotgun starts unless otherwise noted on the schedule. There will be three (3) Flights for each event - Championship (Gross), Men's (Gross & Net), and Women's (Gross & Net).

*Course Handicaps will be used for the Net portion of the Men's and Women's Flights.

 

Flights/Yardages: Championship Flight - This will be strictly a gross competition flight and will play from approximately 6,800 yards. Men's Flight - This will be a gross and net competition flight and will feature two (2) sets of tees; a Men's Amateur Tee (6,400 yards) and a Men's Senior Tee (6,100 yards). Women's Flight - This will be a gross and net competition flight and will play from approximately 4,800 yards.

 

Points: WVGA Amateur Tour Player of the Year points will be awarded to the top 10 finishers in both gross and net divisions in each flight. State Player of the Year points will be awarded to the top three (3) gross finishers in both the Championship Flight and the Women's Flight.

*Should a senior or junior golfer place in the top three (3) in the championship or women's flight additional Senior Player of the Year and Junior Player of the Year points will be awarded in a 30-20-10 structure. 

 

Pairing Request / PairingsThe WVGA accepts one (1) pair request at each of our WVGA Amateur Tour events. Please be sure to include your request during the time of registration prior to each event either through the online registration or on the paper entry form. Players may also call or email the WVGA Manager of Operations, Cory Hoshor, at choshor@wvga.org to make a request. Pairings will be made and released two days prior to each event and will be included in your Player Information email.

Players will not be allowed to make a group request as in year's past, but rather a request of one (1) individual that they would like to play with.

 

Players Meeting / Announcements: A WVGA staff member will hold a player's meeting 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the shotgun round. It is imperative that all players be at their golf carts at this time so that the WVGA staff can go over the Notice to Players for that particular day as well as any announcements from the host facility. Once concluded, players will be instructed to their starting holes.

 

Registration: All contestants must register and pay in advance for each tournament. Entries may be paid for via online registration, or by downloading a paper entry with payment by check or credit card. Registration into each event must be filed prior to the entry deadline. No "day of" payments will be accepted at any time. Please contact the WVGA if you have questions.

 

Entry Deadline: The entry deadline for each WVGA Amateur Tour event will be 48 hours prior to each tournament date. No entries will be accepted after this time.

 

Withdrawal Policy: Refunds will be issued to those who properly withdraw within one (1) week prior to the tournament date. A $10 processing fee will be assessed. Withdrawals made less than one (1) week prior to the tournament will not be issued a refund, with the exception of a medical emergency or the like.

 

Transfer of Entry: For West Virginia Golf Association One-Day events only, players may transfer their entry fees to another one-day event site. To successfully transfer the entry fee, players must submit a written request to the Manager of Operations, Cory Hoshor, at choshor@wvga.org, prior to the entry deadline from the specific event from which you are transferring.

 

Score Posting: At the conclusion of each event each player's score will automatically be posted to the GHIN Handicap System. Please do not enter your own scores from the competitive round, as this will result in a double post.

 

Year-End Awards / Recognition: All Player of the Year awards will be presented to the players at the season ending WVGA Amateur Tour event.

 

Exemptions: The 2019 WVGA Amateur Tour player (Championship Flight) who accrues the most points towards the WVGA Player of the Year will receive an exemption into the 2019 West Virginia Amateur and West Virginia Open Championships.
