Some basic guidelines and rule modifications in effect for Garrisons Lake Womens Golf Association play days.

-Arrive at least 20 minutes before before the League starting time which is 9:30am in April, May & October – 9 am June thru September. Doing so would allow for any important club announcements/updates/greeting new players and socializing.

-The course management schedules no more than 15 minutes for each hole. To keep the game moving always play Ready Golf. (Ready Golf means thinking ahead so you are ready to play) Rules of Golf and Golf etiquette prescribe the proper way to determine hitting order on a course. On the tee, honors; everywhere else, the player within the group that is away (farthest from the hole) hits first – so please be ready.

-Remain quiet when player is addressing her ball.

-Do not stand on tee box when someone is hitting.

-The same ball must be played from tee to hole-out. It may be changed between holes.

-The first one who putts out should replace the flag.

-Rake bunkers. Give other players a helping hand to speed up play

.

-Move to the next tee box to record scores.

-One shot to clear the water. If unsuccessful, you will now be hitting 3. (2 strokes & 1 stroke penalty) the margin of the condition with no penalty.

-If a ball is lost in casual water or ground under repair, a substitute ball within one club length of the point where the ball crossed the margin of the condition. There is no penalty.

-A ball must be identified before it is hit. A 2 stroke penalty must be taken for hitting the wrong ball.

-Out of bounds is 1 stroke penalty plus distance (return to where your last ball was hit). If unsure if out of bounds, to speed up play

– hit a provisional ball. When playing a provisional ball, you must declare it before you hit.

-Ball may never be taken out of a sand trap unless trap is completely flooded. If flooded, it is allowed to be dropped a club length from where the ball entered the trap. No penalty.

-May not remove any loose impediment from a sand trap. The penalty for doing so is 2 strokes.

- We play Winter Rules (preferred lies) Ball may be MARKED, CLEANED & PLACED within one club length, but no closer to the hole IN YOUR FAIRWAY ONLY.

- As a general rule, in situations where a penalty & stroke applies, relief of 2 club lengths is allowed. Where a free drop is given, relief is within one club length.

-NOTE: If course condition warrants any additional local rule, then it will be announced by the Club representative or Events Chairman prior to starting on play day. Under no circumstances can an individual player proclaim a preferred lie other than that already announced.

- This year you can see we are trying Open Play all year. Awards this year will be given only to improved players using handicaps as our guide. Please be sure to turn in your score card to Paulette Schaal or Kurt Zolbe after play.
