44th WV Junior Amateur Championship Information

 

 

 

 

Eligibility: Entries are open to amateur junior golfers with an active GHIN Handicap index through a WVGA Member Club who have not reached their 19th birthday by the first day of the championship. All players MUST also be a resident of West Virginia to be eligible.  Please Reference WVGA Policies and Procedures for further details.

 

Format: The championship will be a 36-hole stroke play event.

 

Divisions: Boys - (10-12) (13-14) (15-16) (17-18)  Girls - (10-14) (15-18) Each division will play from its own respective tee length. Each division, at the conclusion of the championship, will award the player with the lowest 36 hole score. The overall Junior Amateur Champion will come from the 15-18 year old boys, and the 15-18 year old girls who will play from the same set of tees.

 

Field Size: The maximum field size is 120 players

 

Practice Round: The designated practice round has been scheduled as a Callaway Junior Tour event on July 8th. Players may register for that event through the Callaway Junior Tour. 

 

Championship Yardage: Boys - 15-18 (app. 6,900 yards), 13-14 (app. 6,100 yards), 10-12 (app. 5,100 yards)
Girls - 15-18 (app. 5,800 yards), 10-14 (app. 5100 yards)

 

Player Registration: There is no player registration prior to the beginning of the championship. Players are responsible for being on their starting hole 10 minutes prior to their scheduled starting time.

 

Food & Beverage: Grille will be open for cash/credit card during the championship

 

Spectator Cart Fees: Spectator cart fees will be $_________ payable directly to the host club.

 

Caddies: Players are required to carry their own bag for the duration of the championship. Pull carts are permitted during the championship.

 

Pairings: Pairings for the opening round will be released and updated on the WVGA website by 5:00PM on Friday, July 5th. Pairings will also be included in the Player Information that will be emailed to each player by July 5th.

 

Awards: The champion and runner-up will receive trophies as well as the winners in each division.

 

POY Points: Junior Player of the Year points will  be awarded to the top 15 players in both 15-18 divisions. Points will be awarded immediately following the completion of the championship.

 

Electronic Measuring Devices: Electronic devices that measure distance only are permitted for this championship.

 

USGA Groove Condition of Competition (Not in Effect): The USGA groove rules effective January 1, 2010 are NOT in effect for this competition.

 

Withdrawal Policy: In the event of a tournament withdraw; the player must notify the West Virginia Golf Association Office at 304-391-5000 no later than one week prior to the tournament. If withdraw is made prior to tournament deadline, the player may receive a refund regardless of reason less a $20 administrative fee. For a withdraw made after the entry deadline, the player may receive a refund only if player has experienced a sudden illness or injury, and only if the West Virginia Golf Association is notified prior to the first round of the tournament. All refund request must be submitted in writing to the Director of Junior Golf- Chris Slack.
