Tournament Rules

 

  1. Tee position

All men (juniors also) to play from the BLUE TEE’s      

Ladies (juniors also) handicaps from 0-12.0 to play from the GOLD TEE’s

                                 handicaps from 12.2 - 40.0 to play from the GREEN TEE's

 

  1. Format – Individual Members only – Match-Play Championship  
  • Entry Fee is 20 AZN payable when signing in for your first match.
  • In 2019 there will be one draw combining gents, ladies and juniors.
  • The draw will be published and displayed in the locker rooms.
  • All players must arrange matches within the strict timelines shown on the draw.
  • It is BOTH players’ responsibility to find contact details of their opponent from our reservations team. Please be prepared to offer 3 – 4 dates and times.  
  • Scorecards will be prepared by the events team – please notify our staff that you are playing a Match play round.
  • The winner of each hole is determined by the net gross score after any shots have been given on that hole – Player A receives 1 shot on the hole and scores 5 – which is now net 4.  Player B scores a 5 also so Player A wins the hole and moves to 1up in the game.  Should players record the same score (after shot calculations) the hole is Halved.  A Halved does not result in any changing of the overall match score.
  • The winner of the previous hole, tees off first on the next hole and is said to have the Honor.
  • Should your overall match finish 'all square' or even after playing 18 holes both players should continue to play sudden death from hole number 1.
  • Rules are in line with the R&A of St. Andrews. In Match-play the winner is determined by the player who wins more holes during rounds. If player A leads by 6 holes (6 up) and there is only 5 holes remaining– then game can be concluded with the final result announced as a win for Player A - 6 and 5.

 

  1. Handicap Allowance
  • Maximum allowed index handicaps are 28.0 (35 from Blue Tees) for men and 40.0 (42 from Green Tees) for ladies.
  • Players who wish to participate with higher handicaps may do so, however the maximum shots they will received is based on the above.
  • 80% of the difference between the two handicaps gives the total shots received in the match”
    • If Player A has a playing HCP 7 plays Player B with a playing HCP 26 – the difference is 19
    • 80% of 19 = 15.2 (15) shots will be given to Player B from Player A
    • The shots will be given on stroke index holes 1 – 15.

 

  1. Pace of play

Each player is responsible for the pace of play. The recommended 18 hole timing is 4 hours 30. Players/group will be asked to move forward by the Marshal if they fall behind the group in front.

 

  1. Out of bounds markers

In addition to the rules on the scorecard please note the boundary of the golf course is marked by Orange fencing. A ball is deemed out of bounds if it crosses these boundaries.

 

  1. Score Cards

We will prepare one scorecard for the game match with all handicaps marked on the card with lower handicap in group to keeping the score. After the game Dreamland Team needs to know the winner to put on the Match-Play Draw sheet in the locker room with regular updates sent each week.

 

  1. Prize Presentation

The Final Match has to be played before 23rd of September to announce the Winner of the 2019 Match-Play Championship during our Club Championship Prize giving Ceremony on the 29th of September.

The winner and runner up of the Dreamland Match-Play Championship will receive a trophy and prizes from Garmin Azerbaijan.
