Michael or Chet...a Son, a Brother, a Husband, a Father, a Lifelong Friend, a beacon of selflessness, strength and humility. The man with the wry smile was just one of us, but he touched our lives in so many ways, without even trying. He was an exemplary human being, whose life we celebrate and whose memory we strive to preserve, because the world is just a better place because of Chet.
By the way, Chet lost the use of his legs and hands when he was 17. It didn’t matter....

Another year has passed, since Chet left us.  We miss having him around.  Despite our sadness, this Golf Outing is just one way we celebrate and honor his wonderful legacy.

Luke Michael Smith (originally known as Seong Min Lee) arrived at JKF Airport from Seoul, Korea on July 3, 2005. From the moment Michael laid eyes on him, he was his son, the child Michael was told he would never have. Luke is now 14 years old and two inches taller than Angie! He’s in the 8th grade at Waldwick Middle School and enjoys riding his scooter on the half pipe in his backyard, playing baseball and Xbox and hanging out with his friends. He also likes graphic design and video editing. He loves his two tuxedo cats, Mickey and Minnie and his two guinea pigs. Most of all, he loves his family and is so grateful to all of you for your support.  The Michael “Chet” Smith Memorial Fund is dedicated to support Luke’s further educational needs.

Luke is also going to be an exemplary adult. He’s got it. Just like his Dad, he’s got it in him.
