MEMORANDUM TO CONTESTANTS
U.S. SENIOR WOMEN’S OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIER
The AGA and the USGA are grateful to Briarwood Country Club for hosting the US Senior Women’s Open Championship qualifying event. Please remember that we are their guests and our conduct should reflect our thanks. Club Policies and Amenities:
Briarwood Country Club is a private club with a very active membership. Participants of the US Senior Women’s Open Qualifier will need to limit time spent on the driving range, practice chipping and putting greens while at the facility for practice rounds. The club does not allow cell phone usage in indoor areas at the facility.
Field Size & Qualifying Spots
There are 28 contestants in the field at as of April 10th, 12 Professionals and 16 Amateurs. The Arizona qualifying site will identify 6 Qualifiers spots and 2 Alternates. In case of a tie for the final qualifying spot or for the two alternate positions, an immediate hole-by-hole playoff will be conducted for the contestants involved.
Pairings & Assigned Start Times
Pairings and order of play were prepared by the USGA and starting times were assigned by the AGA. Changes to pairings or start times are not permissible for any reason. This is an 18-hole qualifier. Afternoon tee times have been reserved for our field, beginning at approximately 12:30 p.m., and specific pairings and starting times are available on the AGA website azgolf.org.
Use of Golf Carts
Use of automotive transportation by contestants is prohibited. Caddies may use motorized carts. The cart fee of $20 is payable to the golf course prior to the start of the round. Push carts are permitted; however, participants will need to provide their own as the course does not have these available for rent. Spectators and guests are not allowed to ride in carts, unless necessary for medical purposes.
Caddies
Briarwood Country Club has caddies available for participants of the qualifier. If you would like to reserve a caddy please contact Erin Groeneveld at erin@azgolf.org immediately.
Practice Rounds
Contestants only may reserve practice rounds by calling the golf shop at (623) 584-5301. Rates are $50, including a motorized cart. Practice rounds may be booked up to 7 days advanced for Friday, April 19th and Saturday, April 20th after 12p.m.
USGA Policies in Effect
- Alternate Footwear Policy shall be in effect.
- The ball each contestant uses shall be named on the current List of Conforming Golf Balls issued by the USGA, and the “One-Ball Rule” shall be in effect.
- Use of portable telecommunications equipment is prohibited during all USGA Championships and Qualifying.
- The use of distance measuring devices is prohibited.

Course Set up
The course shall be played from a mixed set of tees. The score card for the practice round will be available at the golf shop and in the event portal under “Qualifying Yardages”. The Committee reserves the right to alter the yardage based on weather and course conditions the day of the qualifying. All Local Rules will be listed on the Notice to Players. The USGA Hard Card will be attached with the conditions of competition.
Practice Facilities & Registration
All practice facilities will open at 11:00 a.m. Registration will open at 11:00 a.m. and will be located on the west side of the golf shop. Please also note that players will need to arrive at the Putting Clock at least 10 minutes prior to the assigned start time for instructions and materials.
Food & Beverage Service
PLEASE NOTE: There will be no food available before the round at Briarwood Country Club, it is highly recommended that participants eat before arriving to the property. Snacks and water will be available on the 1st tee, as well as, in coolers around the golf course. There will be no beverage cart on the golf course. Please come prepared with food that you may need throughout the day, keeping in mind light snacks and fruit will be provided.
Presentation of Qualifying Medals and Host Club Gift:
Briarwood Country Club and its members will be hosting a reception for participants of the US Senior Women’s Open Qualifier. Players are strongly encouraged to stay and attend. This is also where the presentation of qualifying medals and the host club gift will be conducted.
