MEMORANDUM TO ALL U.S. OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP CONTESTANTS

Local Qualifying on Monday, May 6th, 2019 @ Country Club at DC Ranch

 

The AGA and the USGA are grateful to Country Club at DC Ranch for hosting this USGA qualifying event.  Please remember that we are their guests and our conduct should reflect our thanks.  Thank you letters may be addressed to, Mr. Dick Hyland, Director of Golf, Country Club at DC Ranch, 9290 East Thompson Peak Pkwy., Scottsdale, Arizona, 85255.  Telephone 480 342-7200.

 

Field Size & Qualifying Spots

  1. 84 in field at entry deadline. Tee time structure will be 1 & 10 tee start, 10-minute intervals, beginning at 7:30 a.m.
  2. 5 qualifying spots with 2 alternates.
  3. In case of a tie for the final qualifying spot or either of the two alternate positions, an immediate hole-by-hole play-off will be conducted for the players involved following play.

Pairings & Assigned Start Times

  1. Pairings were prepared by the USGA and start times were assigned by the AGA. 
  2. Changes to pairings or start times are not permissible for any reason.

Use of Golf Carts

  1. Use of automotive transportation by contestants is prohibited. Players must walk at all times unless a course shuttle is provided or given a ride from a Tournament Official. Caddies may rent golf carts at a cost of $30 + tax per rider inside the Golf Shop the morning of the qualifier. Limit of two carts per group and two riders per cart. Carts will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  2. Spectators/Guests are not allowed to ride in carts. No spectator carts are allowed. Anyone riding in a cart holds the status of a caddie.

Practice Rounds

  1. Practice Rounds are available during the following dates/times: April 28th – May 5th. Please call the golf shop at 480-342-7210 (3-day notice is appreciated).
  2. The practice round fee is $50 + tax.

USGA Policies in Effect

  1. Groove Condition Policy is in effect for local qualifying & Championship Proper
  2. Alternative Footwear Policy is in effect.
  3. The ball each player uses must be named on the current List of Conforming Golf Balls issued by the USGA & the ‘One-Ball Rule’ will be in effect.
  4. Distance measuring devices are NOT allowed during the qualifier. (link to USGA.org)

  2. Visit the course directory section at www.azgolf.org, or call the Country Club at DC Ranch Golf Shop 480 342-7200.
  3. Valet parking will not be available. All players will have a reserved parking spot; by last name, alphabetical order.

Course Setup

1.     The course will be played at a maximum of 6855 yards, par 70 (Note: Hole No. 1 will be played as a par 4)

  1. The Committee reserves the right to alter the yardage based on weather and course conditions the day of the qualifying.
  2. All Local Rules will be listed on the Notice to Players.
  3. The USGA Hard Card is enclosed with conditions of the competition.

Practice Facilities & Registration

  1. All practice facilities will open at 6:30 am. Players should use the driving range area assigned to them.
  2. There will be a registration table set up in the Clubhouse Courtyard starting at 6:30 a.m.  Please check in with the AGA staff member to receive important tournament information.

Food & Beverage Service

  1. A BBQ buffet will be available to players starting at 11 a.m. in the Clubhouse Courtyard. Tickets must be purchased in the Golf Shop. Cash or Credit Card accepted.

Dress Code

  1. Golf-style shirts and either slacks or Bermuda-length shorts are acceptable for contestants and caddies.
  2. Tennis attire, t-shirts and slacks/shorts of denim/jeans material are not acceptable.
  3. Player and caddie’s shirts must be tucked in at all times.

To Withdraw

If you need to withdraw for any reason you must contact both of the following prior to your assigned start time or you shall be listed as a DQ:

  1. The AGA at 602-944-3035 and leave a voice message in mailbox 210 regardless of the time of day.
