2019 ASGA Monk Wade Father and Son Championship

 

Eligibility: This competition is restricted to a Father & Son, Step-Father & Step-Son, Grandfather & Grandsons, and Father-in-Law & Son-in-Law teams. BOTH MUST be active ASGA individual members with current handicap indexes. Any competitor with No Handicap (NH) will be considered “Scratch”. The Championship Division will be pre-flighted based on percentage of combined Course Handicap. Professionals associated with ASGA member clubs and courses are eligible to compete. Format: The Championship format will be the same: 6 holes of best ball, 6 holes of alternate shot, and 6 holes of scramble each day.

 

BOTH CHAMPIONSHIP & SCRAMBLE play the SILO & WILLOW COURSE BOTH DAYS, which feature Mini-Verde Greens and Bermuda Fairways.


Format: 36 Holes of “Scramble” - flights determined by score after the 1st round.


Entry Fee: $350.00 per team – Both competitors ARE active ASGA individual members
$350.00 per team – One player IS an active ASGA individual member; the other resides out of state
$450.00 per team – One or both competitors ARE NOT ASGA individual members


Size of Field/Starting Times: The field is limited to 54 teams on a first come basis. The field play the SILO COURSE and WILLOW COURSE both days with a 1:30 PM shotgun start on Sunday, July 14 and 8:30 AM shotgun start on Monday, July 15. Players will be treated to lunch both days at Ben Geren – before play on Sunday and after play on Monday & on course beverages provided both days.


Tee Markers: Under age 52 play WHITE Tees (3,200 on Silo & 3,100 on Willow); over age 52 play “SENIOR” Tees (3,000 on Silo & 2,700 on Willow) – these are approximate yardages based on dry conditions – so 6,300 for non-seniors and 5,700 for seniors . Practice Round: Please call Golf Shop (479) 646-5301 to reserve a practice round tee time. Each player must pay a cart fee or a reduced fee. Special thanks to Matt Brown, Jay Randolph (Supt) and the staff at Ben Geren.


Prizes: Gift Certificates will be awarded in all divisions/flights.

Hotel/Lodging: ASGA Members be sure and utilize the ASGA Getaway Membership by clicking on “membership” at the top of the www.asga.org website, then “member benefits” and “ASGA getaway” tabs. Numerous hotel options in Fort Smith are offered, some with large discounts off the “regular or online rate.” The ASGA Staff was able to secure rooms at the Doubletree in Downtown Fort Smith last year for significant discounts for the ASGA Junior Stroke – and the Doubletree has an in house bar and restaurant. We have found other large discounted room rates in Texarkana and last year in Wynne - just another great reason to be an ASGA Member – huge discounts on hotels, travel and even tickets to sporting events, concerts etc..
