MEMORANDUM TO U.S. JR AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP CONTESTANTS

 

 

We are grateful to Pinnacle Peak Country Club for hosting this USGA qualifying event. Please remember that we are their guests and our conduct should reflect our thanks. Club Policies and Amenities:

Pinnacle Peak Country Club is a private club with a very active membership. Participants of the US Jr Championship Qualifier will need to limit time spent on the driving range, practice chipping and putting greens while at the facility for practice rounds. The club does not allow cell phone usage in indoor areas at the facility.

 

Field Size & Qualifying Spots

There are 65 contestants in the field at as of June 5, 2019. The Arizona qualifying site will identify 2 Qualifier spots and 2 Alternates. In case of a tie for the final qualifying spot or either of the two alternate positions, an immediate hole-by-hole playoff will be conducted for the contestants involved.

 

Pairings & Assigned Start Times

Pairings and order of play were prepared by the USGA and starting times were assigned by the AGA. Changes to pairings or start times are not permissible for any reason. Pairings and starting times are available on the AGA website azgolf.org under the “Tournament” tab by selecting Event Directory and filtering under type by USGA Qualifier and then selecting US Jr Amateur Qualifier Event Details.

 

This is an 18-hole qualifier. There will be a double-tee start in the morning with tee times beginning 7:30 a.m. To view your specific starting time please visit the “Tee Sheets” section of this portal.

 

Food & Beverage Service

PLEASE NOTE: Pinnace Peak Country Club is a cash only facility, all food and beverage outlets will only accept cash!!! The club will NOT be open for breakfast, however, there will be muffins and coffee outside of the golf shop. The restaurant will be open for lunch, and for spectators seeking quicker options, the Snack Shack near the driving range will be open at 9a.m.

 

Registration

Registration is mandatory and will begin at 6 a.m. located on the south side of the Pinnacle Peak Country Club golf shop under the awning. Caddies will receive a wrist band at registration that designates their status as a caddie, this wrist band must be displayed at all times.

 

Caddie Policy:

The USGA does NOT permit parent’s, step-parents, or legal guardians to act as caddies for the US Jr Amateur Qualifier.

 

Use of Push Carts

Use of automotive transportation by contestants AND caddies is prohibited. Push carts are permitted and MUST be rented in the golf shop for $11 during the practice rounds, however, players are may bring their own push carts on the day of qualifying. Spectators and guests are not permitted to ride in carts.

 

Practice Rounds

Practice rounds can be scheduled for up to 3 days in advance for times after 10a.m. based on availability.  Practice rounds are intended for qualifying participants ONLY. Caddies may NOT play but can accompany players for assistance. You may book your tee time by calling the golf shop at (480)-585-0385. The practice round rate is $30 (cash or credit card) per player and is inclusive of range balls.

 

PRACTICE ROUND PACE OF PLAY: Please be aware that Pinnacle Peak Country Club’s standard pace of play is less than 4 hours. Participants of this qualifier are expected to maintain this pace of play during practice rounds. Groups that cannot maintain an acceptable pace of play may be asked to skip holes in order to regain position. To help maintain this pace of play we ask that players limit their practice to one approach shot to greens.   

 

Practice Facilities

All practice facilities will open at 6:00 am.

 

Course Set up

The course shall be played from a mixed set of tees. Score card for the practice round will be available at the golf shop and is in the section labeled “Qualifying Yardages” of the information portal. The Committee reserves the right to alter the yardage based on weather and course conditions the day of the qualifying. All Local Rules will be listed on the Notice to Players. The USGA Hard Card will be attached with the conditions of competition.

If you find it necessary to withdraw for any reason, you MUST notify both the USGA and the AGA prior to your assigned starting time. Contact the AGA at 602-944-3035, and the USGA at 908-234-2300.
