Eligibility

Qualifiers from regular season KGA Senior Series events.  Top fifteen (15) male players gross & net in each age division from the final KGA Senior Series points standing qualifying for the championship. Players must have played in a minimum of five (5) regular season KGA Senior Series events to be eligible for invitation to the KGA Senior Series Championship.  The five event requirement includes events that were cancelled and/or rescheduled due to weather.

Entry Fee, Deadline and Procedure

$90.  Deadline for entry is Monday, September 16th at 4:00 pm.

Players that qualify for the championship will receive an email invitation.  Qualifying players must enter online or submit entry fee payment prior to the entry deadline.  Players that fail to enter prior to the entry deadline will not be entered into the championship.

Format

36 holes of individual stroke play with gross and net scoring with two age divisions.  Overall Champion to be determined in each division.  The event may be shortened to 18 holes if weather cancels either round.  Gift certificates from the host club will be awarded in amounts to be determined based on the number of total entries within each division.

Optional Skins Game

We will be running a daily optional skins game (gross and net) within the two age divisions for players that wish to participate.  The cost is $20 per player which gets the player into the game for both days of the championship.  If you wish to participate, please bring cash to the first day of the championship and give it to a KGA staff member Dick Kendrick.  Note: a player can only win one skin per hole (i.e. can't win a gross & net skin on same hole).

Divisions

Two age divisions with gross and net scoring:

  • 50 to 64
  • 65 & Older


Course Set-Up

The golf course will be set-up at approximately:

 

  • 6,300 yards (50 to 64 Division)
  • 6,000 yards (65 & Older Division)


Players' Lunch

Lunch will be provided each day to contestants as part of your entry fee.  See info below on times.  

Day 1 - A buffet lunch will be available beginning at 11:00 am at the host club.  Please arrive in time to eat lunch and warm up prior to the 1:00 pm shotgun start.  

Day 2 - Box lunches will be available for pick up during the round at approximately 11:00 am.  Please plan to pick up a lunch when your group makes the turn during the round two shotgun to take with you on the golf course. 

Practice Round

Practice rounds are available for $40 including cart fee.  Please contact the golf shop at Reflection Ridge Golf Club at (316) 721-4653 to inquire about a practice round starting time.  Starting times are available one week in advance. 

Clubhouse and Practice Facilities

Clubhouse and practice facilities open one hour prior to the first starting time.  Practice facilities are for tournament contestants use only. 

Defending Champions

Wichita resident Tracy Chamberlin was victorious at the 2018 KGA Senior Series Championship at Topeka Country Club. In the Super Senior Division, Overland Park's Gary Richter claimed another KGA title.

Senior Cup Teams

 

Following the championship, the Ozark Senior Challenge Team will be named based on final results from the Senior Series Championship.  The players, age 50 to 64, with the best six final gross scores and the best four final net scores (after eliminating any gross qualifiers), plus two “captains’ pick” will comprise the twelve member Kansas Senior Team that will compete against a team from the Missouri Golf Association.  The event will be held October 15-17, 2019 at Crestwood Country Club (Pittsburg, KS).  Details of that event will be given to players that qualify.


Note: Players age 65 and over must indicate which cup team they would want to compete on before beginning play of the Senior Series Championship.  Otherwise they will be placed on the Super Senior Team.


The Association Senior Cup Team will be selected based only on the final results of the KGA Senior Series Championship.  The players, age 65 & over, with the best three final gross scores and best two final net scores (after eliminating any gross qualifiers) and one “captains pick” will comprise the six member Association Senior Cup Team competing against a team from the Missouri Golf Association. Carts, Spectators and Caddies

Carts are provided for both rounds of the championship as part of your entry fee.  Spectator carts may be available at the discretion and fee set by the host club.  Caddies are welcome, but only two carts are allowed per starting time.

Registration

There will be no registration at this event.  You are responsibile to be at your assigned starting tee at least five (5) minutes prior to your scheduled starting time.  This will give you adequate time to receive instructions and information from the Starter.

Score Posting

Scores from each round of this championship will be posted to the GHIN Handicap System using ESC (equitable stroke control).

Close of Competition

The competition shall be deemed to have closed when the symbolic prize for the event has been presented, or if no ceremony, when all scores and results have been approved by the Committee.
