OPENING DATE:  November 1, 2019                                                                                                CLOSING DATE:  December 6, 2019

 

Format:  The tournament shall consist of 18 holes of individual stroke play.  Each player shall play her own ball.  The team score shall be the total of the gross player's gross score added to the net player's net score. 

 

Entry:  Entrants must use the online registration portal via the link provided to each club's AGA Representative.  Paper entry forms and checks for payment will NOT be accepted. 

 

Eligibility:  Entrants in the State Medallion Club Team Tournament will be the winners of the low gross and low net prizes in her club’s State Medallion Tournament. (In the event that the club’s State Medallion Tournament has not been completed for that year at the time of the State Medallion Club Team Tournament, entrants may be the winners from the previous year). In no case may the entrants be the winners from a State Medallion Tournament held more than one calendar year prior to the State Medallion Club Team Tournament being entered. Maximum handicap index limit of 40.4 shall be used for the 18-hole competition, as specified in the USGA Handicap System Manual. Players may “play down” to that index, if necessary.
 

Field Size:  The number of teams a club may have participate in the State Team Medallion Tournament depends on the size of the roster of female members as of September 1, of the year the winners are determined.  Number of teams eligible to participate are based the total membership as follows:
 

For 18-hole clubs: 

  • 350 members = 1 team
  • 351-700 members = 2 teams
  • 701 or more = 3 teams


Field size limit:  18 holes - 250 players

 

Notification of Play Date:  Players will be notified by December 20, 2019 if they will be playing on January 11 or January 12.  Date of play will be based on flights - which cannot be determined until registration is closed and team handicaps are calculated.

 

Handicaps:  December 15, 2019 handicap revision will be used to determine flights (based on gross player's course handicap.)  The January 8, 2020 handicap will be used for tournament play. 

 

Starting Time:  Shotgun start scheduled for 8:30 a.m., weather permitting.

 

Entry fee of $100 per player or $200 per team will include green fees, cart fees, range balls, awards and awards luncheon following play. 

 

Transportation:  Motorized carts are included in the fees but players may walk.

 

Caddies and Spectators:  Caddies and spectators will not be allowed in the 2020 State Medallion Club Team Play event.

 

Registration will be held before play on Saturday and Sunday morning from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. 

                                                                                                                   

Practice rounds will be available for tournament players only.  Practice rounds may be scheduled 14 days in advance.  The practice round rate will be $45 inclusive ($30 after 1 p.m.) by calling (480) 895-7275.  Please mention you are playing in the AGA event. 

 

Lodging:  Players are responsible for making their own lodging arrangements.

Cancellations:  All cancellation and refund policies in the online 2019 Conditions of Competition for Women’s Events on the web site apply.  Requests for refunds will be handled as follows:

 

1.  Withdraw prior to closing date – entry fee refunded, minus $15 administrative fee charged to each player who cancels or withdraws after the entry has been submitted.  A request for refund must be made in writing or by email before the start of the tournament.  Refund requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. 

2.  Withdraw after closing date (after Nov. 30, 2019) – half of entry fee may be considered for refund, if due to family emergency, family death or medical emergency (must have documentation from a physician.)

3.  Withdraw within five days of event – no refund will be considered within five days of the event.

 

*If one partner must cancel, it is the responsibility of the AGA Representative or club to notify the AGA with the name and GHIN number for the replacement golfer.  No replacements may be made after January 8, 2020.

 

Cancellations must be made in writing by email to Le Ann Finger, Senior Director of Tournaments and Championships.  PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE GOLF COURSE TO WITHDRAW.

 

Determining Ties:  Ties for the title of Champion are decided by a hole-by-hole playoff.  All other ties are decided using the recommended USGA tie-breaking procedure of Matching Scorecards (also known as Scorecard Count-Back) as referenced in Section 5A(6) of the Committee Procedures, Rules of Golf.

 

Prizes will be awarded to overall champions as well as by flight.  Flights will be determined by handicap of the gross player.  A minimum of 33 percent of each flight will be paid.
