The Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA and the R&A govern all play, except where noted on this rules sheet, or the OGA hard card (on back).  Play will be from the Black Tee Markers.  No One Ball Rule.

  1. FORMAT - 18-hole stroke play.  21 players will qualify to play at Columbus Country Club July 13-17.  We will also identify 3 alternates.  A hole by hole playoff will be used in case of a tie to determine these positions.
  2. BALL HOLED - A ball is holed when it is at rest in the hole after a stroke and the entire ball is below the surface of the putting green.  For the special case of a ball resting against a flagstick in the hole, Rule 13.2c applies.
  3. FLAGSTICK - Please do not touch or remove the flagstick.  Be gentle with the ball retrieval systems when using to retrieve your ball.  Although we know this may become frustrating at some point, we ask that you respect the device.  .
  4. PREFERRED LIES IN BUNKER - When a player’s ball lies in a bunker, the player may take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball in and play it from the relief area.
    1. Reference Point:  Spot of original Ball
    2. Size of Relief Area Measured from Reference Point:  One club-length, but with these limits:
    3. Limits on Location of Relief Area:
      1. Must not be nearer the hole than the reference point, and
      2. Must be in the same bunker

In Proceeding under this Local Rule, the player must choose a spot to place the ball and use the procedures for replacing a ball under Rule 14.2b(2) and 14.2e.  A player may smooth the bunker with a club or foot prior to placing and we ask that you smooth the bunker following when exiting.

  1. PENALTY AREAS - High natural grass areas treated as red penalty areas, with the edge defined as the change in cut of grass from rough/closely mown to high natural
  2. GROUND UNDER REPAIR - (Abnormal Course Conditions) - Areas defined by connected white lines.  Rule 16.1.  Ornamental plantings and the entire bed they are located in are deemed ground under repair and a no play zone.  This applies if the plantings or bed interfere with a player’s lie, stance or swing, even if the ball is outside the bed.  Play is prohibited from these areas, but free relief is required under the applicable Rule.  Rule 17.
  3. OUT OF BOUNDS is defined by the course-side edge of fence posts at ground level.
  4. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS within or immediately adjacent to each other, such as sprinkler control boxes and sprinkler heads and quick couplers are to be treated as a single obstruction. Staked Trees:  If stance and/or area of intended swing is interfered with a staked tree, the stake and/or rope/wire as well as the tree is treated as an immovable obstruction.
  5. SCORING  Immediately after you complete your round, report to scoring area, located to the South Side of the Halfway House.  A tournament official will certify your score by verbal confirmation after displaying all players in the groups hole by hole scores on a monitor.
  6. PLAYOFF FOR ANY QUALIFYING spots and alternate spots will begin IMMEDIATELY after the last score is posted.  Players are to not congregate in groups of more than 10 while waiting.
