ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION

 

ELIGIBILITY:

 

Open to female amateur golfers with the following requirements: (1) meet the USGA policy on transgender individuals and (2) possess an active USGA/GHIN Handicap Index of 36.0 or less from a TGA member club or course.

 

Amateurs must meet the USGA definition of an amateur golfer.  Persons applying for reinstatement to amateur status are not eligible.  All applications will be reviewed by the TGA to verify each entrant has an official USGA/GHIN Handicap Index from a TGA member club or course. Any amateur whose name does not appear on the TGA's handicap roster will be ineligible and their entry application and entry fee will be returned.

 

ENTRY FEE:

 

$200 per player; $400 per team

 

ENTRY DEADLINE:

 

All players must file an application by the entry deadline - Wednesday, September 9, 2020, to be eligible to compete in the Championship. THE TGA WILL NOT ACCEPT LATE ENTRY APPLICATIONS.

 

FIELD:

 

Limited to 80 teams (160 players). The first 80 team entry applications received at the TGA office will be accepted into the field. Subsequent entry applications will be placed on a waiting list based upon time of receipt.

 

SCHEDULE:

 

Monday, September 21: Official Practice Round/Tournament Registration/Welcome Reception

 

Tuesday, September 22: Round One - Shotgun Wave 1 at 8:30 a.m., Shotgun Wave 2 at 1:30 p.m. (Teams will be grouped by combined handicap index for Round one. Requests will be taken)

 

Wednesday, September 23: Round Two - Shotgun Wave 1 at 8:30 a.m., Shotgun Wave 2 at 1:30 p.m. (Flights 1-4 will play Wave 1; Flights 5-8 will play Wave 2; Players' Luncheon - 11:00 a.m.; Awards will be presented after each wave has finished play.)


FORMAT:

 

Play will be contested at 36-holes of four-ball stroke play.

 

NOTICE OF WITHDRAWAL:

 

A player who must withdraw before the championship must notify the TGA office at 615-465-6308 or the Official in Charge at the site of the event.  If a player must withdraw during an event, he must notify the TGA staff member. If a player does not show for an event or fails to follow the above procedure, their actions may result in a one-year suspension from all TGA competitions. The said player forfeits all entry fees.

 

REFUNDS:

 

Refunds will be refunded regardless of reason BEFORE the entry deadline.  After the entry deadline, NO refunds for any reason (except injury or illness) will be issued. Requests for a refund due to illness or injury will be treated on a case by case basis and can include illness or injury of a spouse or child.  All refunds will be subject to a $25.00 withdrawal fee.

 

ONSITE REGISTRATION: 

 

Players may register in person at Oak Ridge Country Club by 3 p.m. CDT, Monday, September 21. Position may be forfeited by a participant from whom no word is received by September 21 at 3 p.m. CDT.

 

CANCELLATION/EXTENSION OF PLAY:

 

If a lengthy suspension of play occurs during the final round or is likely to affect the final round, the TGA will discuss options with the host facility on the cancellation of the final round and/or shortening of the championship. The TGA will discuss all of these options with the host club's staff.

 

FLIGHTS:

 

If a full field is reached, there will be a total of eight (8) flights. If a full field is not reached, the total number of flights will be dependent on the total number of teams competing. Flights will be determined by the first round score. All like scores will be grouped into the same flight with all flights having as close to the same number of teams as possible.

 

STARTING TIME REQUESTS:

 

Players may request a morning or an afternoon shotgun start for Round One ONLY.  The TGA will make every effort to accomodate the requests of all teams, but requests cannot be guaranteed. Teams may declare their starting time request on the official entry application or by calling/emailing the TGA office BEFORE the official entry deadline, Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. CDT. After the entry deadline, requests will not be taken.  For Round TWO, teams will be flighted based on first round score.  Round Two pairings will be done by pairing teams straight down the list in order of scores.  Flights 1-4 will tee off in the morning shotgun for the second round and Flights 5-8 will tee off in the afternoon shotgun.

 

AWARDS:

 

The overall team champion will come from Flights 1-4 and will be the team with the lowest gross score for 36-holes. Awards will be given to the first and second place teams in each flight.

 

SPECIAL EVENT PRIZES:

 

Closest to the hole and longest drive prizes will also be awarded. Participants will be divided into divisions based on their individual index and will compete individually for these prizes.

 

RULES OF GOLF:

 

Play will be governed by the Rules of Golf and the most current TGA Rules of Play Card. All questions shall be settled by the committee in charge of the competition, whose decision is final.

 

CART POLICY:

 

Cart fees are included in your entry fee for the Championship. Golf carts are reserved for contestants, TGA officials, and host club staff. Spectator carts or caddie carts are not permitted at the championship proper. 

 

NOTE: Caddies are NOT permitted for the Tennessee Women's Four-Ball Championship.

 

CODE OF CONDUCT:

 

Contestants (and their caddies) are to observe proper golf etiquette at all times.  Any abuse or disrespect of other players, TGA staff, officials, spectators, employees of the host facility, or any other persons conducting or attending the Tennessee Golf Association sponsored event can be grounds for disqualification from the event, and possible revocation of the right to enter future Tennessee Golf Association events.  Such abuse may be verbal or physical or threat thereof and includes, but is not limited to: the use of obscene language or gestures, physical damage to property or equipment including that of the Tennessee Golf Association or host facility.  Rule 1.2b

 

TGA DRESS CODE:

 

Contestants must wear appropriate attire. Gym shorts, cut-offs, shirts without collars, and denim shorts or pants are not acceptable. Mock turtlenecks are acceptable based upon the host club's policy. Shorts must be Bermuda in length.

 

FOOTWEAR:


Traditional type spokes, regardless of competition, are prohibited at all qualifying rounds and at the championship proper. Penalty for breach of this condition of play is disqualification.
