2020 Men's & Women's Mid-Amateur Championship Information

 

 

Entry Fee: $225 ($233 credit or debit)

Registration Deadline: Friday, October 16, 2020

 

Eligibility: Open to Male and Female Amateurs who have reached their 25th birthday. Competitors are required to have an active GHIN Handicap through a USGA Licensed Mississippi Golf Association Member Club. Competitors must be bona fide residents of Mississippi for at least 60 days prior to the first round of the Championship. All must conform with the USGA Rules of Amateur Status.

 

Format: The Mid-Amateur Championship is scheduled for 54 holes of individual stroke play. The field size is limited to the first 96 players.

 

Practice Round: Practice rounds are available on Thursday, Oct. 22nd at a rate of $20 per player. Please contact Castlewoods Country Club to schedule practice rounds.

 

Championship Divisions & Yardages: Men (25+) - app. 6,600 yards, Women (25+) app. 5,400 yards

 

Player Registration: Player Registration will take place from 10:00AM - 3:00PM on Thursday, Oct. 22nd outside of the golf shop.

 

Player Food & Beverage: There will be no Food & Beverage provided for this Championship. Players may make purchases in the grill using cash or credit.

 

Cart Fees: All cart and green fees are included in the tournament entry fee.

 

Spectator Carts: Spectator carts will not be permitted during this championship with the exception of a spectator who can provide an issued and active Handicap Permit. Final decision will be made by the MGA Staff and also the availability of carts at the host facility.

 

Caddies: Caddies are permitted during the championship. Players are responsible for supplying their own caddie. Caddies may ride in golf carts if it adheres to the MGA cart policy and their is an available seat. * MGA Cart Policy - there will be a maximum of 2 carts per group and 2 individuals per cart. *

 

Pairings: Pairings for the opening round will be released and updated on the MGA website by Monday, Oct. 19th. Pairings will also be included in the Player Information that will be emailed to each player by Tuesday, October 20th.

 

Electronic Measuring Devices: Electronic devices that measure distance only are permitted for this championship.

 

USGA Groove Condition of Competition (Not in Effect): The USGA groove rules effective January 1, 2010 are NOT in effect for this competition.

 

Withdrawal Policy: In the event of a tournament withdraw; the player must notify the Mississippi Golf Association Office at 601-939-1131. If withdraw is made prior to tournament deadline, the player may receive a refund regardless of reason less a $25 administrative fee. For a withdraw made after the entry deadline, the player WILL NOT receive a refund unless the player has experienced a sudden illness or injury, a signed Doctor's note is provided, and only if the Mississippi Golf Association is notified prior to the first round of the tournament. Host Hotel: There is no Host Hotel for this year's Championship. There are several different hotel options in the Jackson/Airport area that do have open accomodations.
