106th Junior Boys' Championship

Registration Fee: $50 per person. 

 

Format: 18-hole individual stroke play qualifying on Day One. Match play on Day Two and Day Three. There will be two flights consisting of 16 players. Both flights will play two matches each on Day Two and Day Three.

 

Eligibility: Open to Junior boys who are members of member clubs and are 14-18 years of age, as long as they have not started their college career, and who have a Handicap Index of 14.4 or lower. A player may not have reached his 19th birthday by the final day of the tournament. Upon approval of the Executive Committee, a Junior-Junior (13 years of age or younger) may compete in the Junior Boys’ Championship.

 

Field Size: Limited to 78 players; 32 Juniors will qualify for match play. Entries will be accepted based off of 78 lowest handicap index players registered at time of entry close.  Any ties at the highest acceptable handicap index will be settled by lot. There will be two flights of 16. The previous year’s Junior Boys’ Champion, if entered, will qualify automatically and assume the No. 1 seed in the Championship Flight. He may play for the medal prize, but his score will not affect his position in match play.

 

Practice Rounds: Are not available for this event 

 

Starting Times: Stroke play qualifying, in twosomes only, to begin at 7:30 a.m. with 10-minute intervals starting on No. 1 tee.  Match play begins at 7:30 a.m. off No. 1 tee.

 

Automotive Transportation: Automotive transportation is not permitted in this event. A player may carry his own bag or use a push cart, if the host facility allows the use of push carts.

 

Caddies: Are not be permitted.

 

Spectators: Spectators will not be permitted; except that any player who requires assistance in transportation to the tournament site may authorize one, and not more than one person, to spectate at the event, but only if such person is a member of the player’s immediate family and living in the same household as the player, provided that in all such circumstances such person may not provide any assistance to the player, may not indicate the line of play, may not handle the player’s clubs or equipment, and may not otherwise provide any services normally provided by a caddie.

 

Spectator Carts: One cart will be permitted for 1 chaperone for a player who requires transportation to the tournament.

 

Prizes: Low gross for qualifying. Champion and Runner-up prizes for each flight. For prizes for low gross, duplicate prizes will be awarded for qualifying.

 

Ties: A playoff, if necessary, for the final match play positions of each Flight will be conducted on the morning of Day 2.  All ties in match play are determined in extra holes.
