Player Information Sheet & Local Rules

  

 

Allen Bowl Four-Ball Tournament:

Miss Eleanor W. Allen donated the trophy in 1938. Last year’s winners were Louise Stejbach & Marjorie Lustig.

 

Rules of Golf: The USGA Rules of Golf, Local Rules and Terms of Competitions for Mass Golf Tournaments govern all play.

 

Mass Golf Policies & Procedures: Please refer to Policies & Procedures in Response to Covid 19, Policies & Procedures and Pace of Play Policy. Mask requirement is still in effect at the range and practice green.

 

Format: 18 Hole event. Better ball (hole) of two. There will be Gross and Net Divisions.

                      

Starting Times: Tee times starting at 1:30pm. Refer to pairings and starting hole assignments.

 

Handicaps: 95% player handicap. Indexes computed on June 25th, 2020.

 

Scorecards: Paper scorecards will be provided to all participants for the player’s own notes. All paper scorecards are considered UNOFFICIAL. Do NOT exchange scorecards at any time. Online/Mobile Scoring via USGA Tournament Management. Prior to the Tournament, players should download the USGA Tournament Management App. Click HERE for mobile scoring instructions. Click HERE to download the App. Enter Gross scores only. Net will be calculated by the App. After all gross scores are entered for a Hole, click “Save Scores”. Mass Golf will not be posting scores to GHIN.

                          

Tees: Approximate yardage for the tournament will be 5,300 yards.

 

Distance-Measuring Devices: Permitted as specified in Mass Golf Championship Policies & Procedures.

 

 Practice Areas:

  • Sunday 7/19 - The Haverhill CC practice range will be available to competitors between 2:00 - 4:00 PM the afternoon before the Championship. The practice putting green will also be available to competitors between 2:00 PM – close.
  • Monday 7/20 - The Haverhill CC practice range will be accessible 45 minutes before the player’s tee time. All players must stay in their cars until then. Players will then have 20 minutes at the driving range and then will be directed over to the putting green.

Players will have 10-15 minutes at the putting green and then will be directed over to the on-deck circle to be there 10 minutes prior to their tee time.

 

Hole Locations: Hole location sheets will be provided.

 

Flagsticks: For the safety and well-being of all, the flagstick MUST NOT be touched and should always remain in the hole. A device will be placed in the cup to prevent players from touching the flagstick. A ball deflected out of the hole will not be considered holed and must be played as it lies.

 

Bunker Relief: All bunker rakes will be removed from the golf course. A ball that comes to rest in the bunker may be marked, lifted, cleaned and dropped one club length no closer to the hole and come to rest within the relief area within the bunker. The area in which a player intends to drop may not be improved in any way. Players are expected to smooth all footprints (unkept areas) with their foot, club or other device to the best of their ability after they hit their shot.

 

Bathrooms: On course and in clubhouse.

Snack Bar/Halfway House: Accessible at hole #10 and cash/credit cards are accepted. A beverage cart will be going around the course that will be cash only.

 

Dinner: Mass Golf will be on the patio for dinner following play. Haverhill Country Club has put together a beautiful menu of a garden salad, rolls, chicken parm, ziti with sauce, mixed vegetables, chocolate chip cookies and soda. Bar service will be available at the players expense (cash and/or credit cards accepted). Lunch is not included and will not be available.

 

Scoring: Players to report to the scoring table on the patio upon completion of their round.

 

Awards: The Eleanor W. Allen Bowl is a permanent trophy and will be engraved with the names of the gross winners. Ties for overall gross will be honored. Other ties will be decided by a matching of cards in accordance with USGA recommended method.  Prize Certificates (gross & net places) will be given out and must be redeemed at Haverhill Country Club.
