Player Information Sheet & Local Rules

 

 

 

History of the Mother/Daughter Chapman / Member Junior Tournament:

The tournament was first hosted in 1997 and won by Patricia and Courtney Marsh of Newton Commonwealth GC. Last year’s winner were 1st Division - Christine and Anna Casagrande, 2nd Division – Tracy Welch and Torey Adams, 3rd Division - Tracy Welch and Mandy Adams.

 

Rules of Golf: The USGA Rules of Golf, Local Rules and Terms of Competitions for Mass Golf Tournaments govern all play.

 

Mass Golf Policies & Procedures: Please refer to Policies & Procedures in Response to Covid 19, Policies & Procedures and Pace of Play Policy. Mask requirement still in effect at range and practice green.

 

Format: Chapman. Golfers both hit their tee shots. Then they hit their partner’s ball. For the third shot they select a ball and alternate hitting until the ball is holed.

 

Starting Times: Tee times starting at 8:30am. Refer to pairing and starting hole assignments.

 

Divisions: Mother/Daughter: Division 1: Daughters 19 years and older. Division 2: Daughters or junior 14 years to 18 years. Division 3: Daughters 13 years and younger (9 holes only). Member/Junior: Division A: Juniors 14-18 years old. Division B: Juniors 13 years and under (9 holes only)

 

Handicaps:  60% of lower handicap plus 40% of higher handicap. Indexes computed on July 2nd, 2020.

 

Scorecards: Paper scorecards will be provided to all participants for the player’s own notes. All paper scorecards are considered UNOFFICIAL. Do NOT exchange scorecards at any time. Online/Mobile Scoring via USGA Tournament Management. Prior to the Tournament, players should download the USGA Tournament Management App. Click HERE for mobile scoring instructions. Click HERE to download the App. Enter Gross scores only. Net will be calculated by the App. After all gross scores are entered for a Hole, click “Save Scores”. Scores should not be posted for handicap purposes as the round has not been played in an authorized format.

 

Tees:  Red Mass Golf Tees for front nine and Blue Mass Golf Tees for back nine.

 

Distance-Measuring Devices: Permitted as specified in Mass Golf Championship Policies & Procedures.

 

Practice Areas: Golfers are asked to be on property no earlier than 25 minutes before their tee time. Each golfer will have 5 minutes at a two-person hitting net (bring your own balls) as well as 5 minutes at the practice putting green. A flow chart of practice times is available on the portal. Half of the golfers will start with the hitting net and half of the golfers will start at the putting green. The flow chart will let you know when your practice hitting times and practice putting times are. No more than two players at a time at the hitting net. Golfers will be directed to the on-deck circle.

 

Yardage Markers: Sprinkler heads in the fairway are measured to the center of the green.

Out of Bounds:

Hole #1/10: Out of bounds left side of fairway and behind green

Hole #4/13: Out of bounds begins at telephone pole on left side of fairway and goes behind the green

Hole #6/15: Out of bounds left of green and back fence

Hole #8/17: Fence left of tee and through cart path is out of bounds and behind the green is out of bounds

Hole #9/18: Out of bounds behind green starting at cart path

No play zones: Any flower beds are considered a no play zone and players receive a free drop

Hole #7/16: Flower bed back left of green for free relief

Hole #8/17: Flower bed back left of green for free relief

Hole #9/18: Flower bed behind green through mulched area left of flower bed at the back left of green for free relief

 

Additional Information

Hole #5/14: Fescue area left of tees is unmarked and not deemed a penalty area

Hole #6/15: Back fence free drop and right side unmarked and not deemed a penalty area

Ground under repair areas are marked with white

 

Flagsticks: For the safety and well-being of all, the flagstick MUST NOT be touched and should always remain in the hole. A device has been placed in the cup to prevent players from touching the flagstick. A ball deflected out of the hole will not be considered holed and must be played as it lies.

 

Bunker Relief: All bunker rakes will be removed from the golf course. A ball that comes to rest in the bunker may be marked, lifted, cleaned and dropped one club length no closer to the hole and come to rest within the relief area within the bunker. The area in which a player intends to drop may not be improved in any way. Players are expected to smooth all footprints (unkept areas) with their foot, club or other device to the best of their ability after they hit their shot.

 

Bathrooms: Located in the clubhouse. Walk in the doors and bathrooms are to the right. A porta-potty is located on Hole #6.

Drinking Water: Players must provide their own water as water coolers will not be available.

 

Snack Bar/Halfway House: Accessible for snacks and drinks after the 9th/18th green in the clubhouse.

 

Lunch: Deli boxed lunch after play. Sandwich options, fruit, chocolate chip cookie and bottled water included. Adult beverages available for purchase. Boxed lunches will be available upon completion of the round.

 

Scoring: Players to report to the scoring table at the clubhouse patio upon completion of their round.

 

Awards: Overall and Division Trophies engraved with names of gross winners.  Ties honored for first place gross only. All other ties will be decided by matching cards in accordance with USGA recommended method. Prize certificates to be used at host club.
