DEFAULT AND SUBSTITUTION PROCEDURE POLICY

2020

IF ANY TEAM HAS A FORFEIT, THE FOOD AND CART FEE WILL STILL BE ASSESSED FOR ALL EIGHT PLAYERS, AS IS CONTRACTED WITH THE UCCLGTA.  IT IS THE DEFAULTING TEAMS RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY THE HOSTING CLUBS CAPTAIN AS TO WHOM THE BILLING SHOULD BE SENT TO

COMPLETE DEFAULT:  (“A” Team never goes light unless an emergency situation - see #C)

A.         If a team captain is aware that there will be a default the day before a match, team players will advance to vacate the number 8 position.  The scoring will be as follows:

The number seven players will play match play.  The number 8 player on the non-defaulting team will play stroke play, playing out every hole.  She will receive 9 points from the default position.  She can earn additional points for each hole in which her net score is below par up to a maximum of 9 points.  She is allowed a maximum of a 36 handicap for the default match only.

If there are two or more players in default, the remaining players will split up so that there is a valid match in each group (example: if a club has 2 default positions, #5 players will play single match play, #6 will play stroke play for extra points; #7 players will play single match play, #8 will play stroke play for extra points.

B.         For B and C Teams only, if, in good faith, no players from the respective Club are available to fill in to avoid a default, then the defaulting team may ask for a substitute player (s) from first the host Club, then any other Club,  to fill out the team in order to avoid a default.  If a substitute player cannot be found, or if more than one player is needed, the unfilled position will be subject to the default procedures above.  No Club is required to provide a substitute player. Any player that has played as a substitute player retains the right to play for her own Club.

(If a position is vacated on the morning of play, the same scoring procedure will be used for the positions effected by the defaulting player.  Example: The number 3 player defaults. The number 3 player on the non-defaulting team will play stroke play and the number 4 players will play match play.)

*Substitute player fills the appropriate position for her current index

*Default points are recorded on the Score sheet

C.         There MAY be a 25% point deduction assessed to B Team if A Team is Light and B Team is full.  This will only be done if it is determined by a committee that it could have been avoided, but was not.  (The committee will consist of current Captain of Captains, prior year Captain of Captains, and 1 other Club Captain.  (If one of the Captain of Captains is unavailable or her club is involved in the situation another club captain uninvolved in the situation may represent)

PARTIAL DEFAULT:

(Late for Play or Unable to Finish)

Defaulting player will forfeit ½ point for each un-played hole.  Non-defaulting player will automatically earn ½ point for each hole of default.  The remaining two players will play match play.  Example:  The number 5 player gets ill and does not play the final three holes.  She loses 1 ½ points, her opponent wins 1 ½ points, and the players in the 6 position play match play for the final 3 holes.
