AGES/ELIGIBILITY

 Open to male amateur golfers under the age of 19; a competitor must and not be 19 as of June 24. The field of 120 players will be determined by the number of exempt players to register and the remainder by low handicap index at the close of entries.

FORMAT

54 holes of stroke play; field cut to the low 60 and ties after 36 holes.

PRACTICE ROUND

One practice round per player. Practice rounds will be available on the designated times below two weeks prior to the competition. Please call Savannah Golf Club to reserve your practice round starting time after you have received your acceptance confirmation on June 11th.  Practice round cart and range fee is $25 plus tax. Cash and credit cards will be accepted.

  • Saturday, after 1:00 p.m., based on availability.
  • Sunday, anytime, based on availability

YARDAGES & TEES

The GSGA tee markers will be utilized for the championship.  Yardages are approximate and may be adjusted due to inclement weather or other factors that may affect the playing conditions during the competition. A complete practice yardage sheet will be provided for players playing practice rounds.

GOLF SHOP & DRIVING RANGE

The golf shop and driving range will open at 6:00 a.m. on the day of the qualifier.

STARTING TIMES

Starting times for tournament play will be assigned by the GSGA and posted at the club the day before the competition starts. You may visit www.gsga.org for complete pairing information and starting times beginning on June 17. 

REGISTRATION

No formal registration will be held on site. Player withdraws must be called or e-mailed to the GSGA office so that an alternate may be contacted.

CADDIES

All players must walk and carry their own bag or may use a pull cart. Caddies are specifically prohibited.  Pull carts are permitted.

 

RULES OF PLAY/PACE OF PLAY/CART POLICY

The GSGA Rules of Play, Pace of Play and Spectator Cart Policy for Junior Competitions shall be in effect. Click here to view policies.

Spectators may rent carts during the competition rounds at a cost of $25 per cart.  For 2020, spectator cart rentals will be restricted to only those with valid ADA certification that must be presented.  The number of carts allowed for rental to ADA spectators will be limited to two carts per group and no more than two people will be allowed per cart. The overall number of spectator carts rented in 2020 WILL BE EXTREMELY LIMITED and is subject to change based on availability.  Credit cards will be accepted.

 

DRESS CODE

Proper golf attire must be worn in all phases of this Championship. No tank tops, tee shirts, or blue jeans will be allowed. Competitors must be neat in respect to personal grooming and clothing. Shorts must be Bermuda length. Shirts must have collars.

FOOD SERVICE

Food service will be available in the clubhouse. Cash and credit cards will be accepted.

GA/SC JUNIOR CHALLENGE MATCH

The top eight finishers in the Georgia Junior Championship will qualify to participate in the Georgia-South Carolina Junior Challenge Match on July 31 – August 1 at The Farm. The 9th and 10th place finishers will be 1st and 2nd alternates. Details will be distributed at the conclusion of the championship

REFUND POLICY

For the remainder of 2020, a player may request a FULL refund for a withdrawal up through their starting time on the first day of competitions for ANY reason.  After the player’s starting time has passed on the first day of competition, refunds will not be granted.

CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION - The following conditions shall be in effect for this competition:

  • GSGA competitions are "spikeless" events. Therefore, metal and traditionally-designed spikes are prohibited. Penalty for breach of this condition is disqualification.
  • Players are responsible for posting their scores to the handicap system upon conclusion of this competition. Scores must be posted as tournament scores. Course slope and rating information is typically posted at the scoreboard during the competition. You may also contact GSGA for this information. Your scores are subject to review by your peers and your club's handicap committee.
