With Association HQ's decision this year to forgo 'local' qualifiers for the LPGA Ams Championship series, chapters are free to create their own Championship. So we've created a fun & friendly competition at one of our favorite courses with participation options for both serious competitors and all the rest of us!  Here's the 411...

 

Eligibility: Must be an LPGA Ams PDX member with a current WHS Handicap Index.

 

Divisions: Choose to play in either the Individual Stroke or the Team Scramble (see below).

 

Field: Limited to a total of 48 players.

Individual Stroke Division (Stableford)

 

Players in this division will be flighted by Handicap Index, which means you'll be competing only with players whose skill level is similar to yours. Flights will be determined once the field is set.

 

  • Stableford scoring. You'll keep your score hole by hole as usual but scoring in this Division will be based on the Stableford points schedule shown below. Scorecards will be customized with rows to enter your gross and net hole scores, as well as the Stableford points you earn on each hole.

 

Net double bogey and above = 0 points

Net bogey = 1 points

Net par = 2 points

Net birdie = 3 points

Net eagle = 4 points

Net double eagle and lower = 5 points

 

  • Awards. Stableford points will be used to award winners in each flight. 

 

Team Scramble Division 

 

Players in this division will compete in teams of four. You can form a team yourself OR ask during registration to be placed on a team. 

 

  • Team Handicap.To ensure scramble teams compete fairly, each will be assigned a team handicap using the Ambrose method, per this example...

 

Course Handicaps of 14 + 10 +15 + 18 = 57
The team's handicap average is 14.25.

50% of the average is 7.13, which rounds to 7 (0.5 rounds up).

 

  • Awards. Net teams scores will be used to award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

 

Registration Fees

$58 per player

Fee includes riding cart & range balls. (Players may choose to walk, but cart fee will not be refunded.)

 

Important Registration Notes:

  • To complete registration you will need to enter your Golf Handicap Service Provider (GHIN, GolfNet or Other), your Provider Account # or ID, and your current Handicap Index.
  • If you wish to play in the Scramble Division and you have already formed a tearm, enter your teammates' names in the Notes field. Each team member must register herself separately.

 

Last day to register is Jul 10 (8 p.m.)

 

Awards Program:  It now appears likely that OGA GC will be under Phase 2 protocols on Jul 18, meaning that we may be able to gather for a socially distanced awards program after the round. The course also expects to have limited-menu food service available by then. If so, F&B will be no host. We'll keep participants informed as we get closer to the event date.
