MEMORANDUM TO ALL U.S. WOMEN’S AMATEUR FOUR-BALL QUALIFIER CONTESTANTS

Qualifying on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 @ Longbow Golf Club

 

 

The AGA and the USGA are grateful to Longbow Golf club for hosting this USGA qualifying event.  Please remember that we are their guests and our conduct should reflect our thanks. ‘Thank You’ letters may be addressed to Bob McNichols, Owner and General Manager, or Mr. Jeffery Anti, Head Golf Professional, Longbow Golf Club 5601 E Longbow Pkwy, Mesa, AZ 85215.

 

Field Size & Qualifying Spots

  1. There were 15 teams (30 players) in field at the entry deadline.
  2. The number of qualifying spots has been established at 2 teams and 2 alternate positions.
  3. In case of a tie for the final qualifying spot or either of the two alternate positions, an immediate hole-by-hole play-off will be conducted for the players involved following play.
    1. For those teams anticipating they may be in a play-off, space on the patio has been reserved to allow for proper social distancing. Masks are required in doors and when you are within 6 ft of another person.

 

Pairings & Assigned Start Times

  1. Pairings were prepared by the USGA and start times were assigned by the AGA. Pairings can be viewed by visiting the “Pairings” section of this portal.
  2. Changes to pairings or start times are not permissible for any reason.
  3. Tee times will begin at 7:00a.m. from the #1 tee at 10-minute intervals.

 

Use of Golf Carts

  1. Use of automotive transportation by contestants is prohibited. Players must walk at all times unless a course shuttle is provided or given a ride from a Tournament Official. Caddies may rent golf carts at $25 + tax per rider, inside the Golf Shop the morning of the qualifier. Limit of two carts per group and two riders per cart.
  2. Push/Pull carts are permitted. Longbow has a limited number available for rent, it is recommended that players bring their own.  
  3. Spectators/Guests are not allowed to ride in carts. No spectator carts are allowed. Anyone besides a player riding in a cart are considered a caddie and the player is responsible for any breaches of the Rules.

 

Practice Rounds

  1. Practice rounds can be booked based on availability.
  2. Players can make reservations by calling (480) 807-5400.
  3. Practice round fees are $44+tax (NOTE: if you make your tee time online, notify the golf shop when you check in and they will adjust the price.)

 

USGA Policies in Effect

  1. Groove Condition Policy is in effect for local qualifying, see attached sheet.
  2. Alternative Footwear Policy will be in effect.
  3. The ball each player uses must be named on the current List of Conforming Golf Balls issued by the USGA & the ‘One-Ball Rule’ will be in effect.
  4. Distance measuring devices are allowed during the qualifier. Players using distance measuring devices to measure other conditions (i.e. elevation, wind, etc.) during a stipulated round are in breach of Rule 4.3.

Course Setup

  1. The course will be played at a maximum length of approximately 6,300 yards. The hole by hole yardage is in the “Qualifying Yardage” section of this portal. 
  2. The Committee reserves the right to alter the yardage based on weather and course conditions the day of qualifying.               
  3. All Local Rules will be listed on the Notice to Players.
  4. The USGA Hard Card is enclosed with conditions of the competition.
  5. Rakes will not be placed on the golf course, but rather will be provided to each group at their starting hole.
  6. It is recommended that the flagstick be left in the hole, however, there is no restriction on removing it, as there will not be noodles inside the holes.

 

Practice Facilities & Registration

  1. All practice facilities will open by 6:00 am.
  2. Registration will be open at 6:30a.m. at the driving range, we ask that you check in at registration prior to your tee time. 
  3. The Players are expected to check in at the first tee 10 minutes prior to your assigned start time for instructions and materials.

 

Additional Information and Considerations:

  1. The restaurant  and golf shop will be open, masks are required to enter all buildings.
  2. Waterbottles will be provided in coolers throughout the course.
  3. Hand santizer will be available at each starting tee, each scoring table, and near each cooler placed on the course. 

  

Dress Code

  1. Golf-style shirts and either slacks, shorts, or golf skirts are acceptable for contestants and caddies.
  2. T-shirts and slacks/shorts of denim/jeans material are not acceptable.

 

To Withdraw

If you need to withdraw for any reason you must contact both of the following prior to your assigned start time or you shall be listed as a DQ:

  1. The AGA @ 602-944-3035 and leave a voice message in mailbox 210 regardless of the time of day.
  2. The USGA @ 908-234-2300
