Championship conducted to determine the top male Senior player in Louisiana for 2021. Entrants must be 50 years of age by midnight, May 5, 2021.

 

Entry Deadline: Tuesday, April 27, 2021, 5PM CST

 

Entry Fee, Withdrawal/Refunds: Entry fee of $200 for Overall Championship competitors and $175 for Super Senior and Legends Championship competitors, which includes cart fee for practice round and tournament play. Entry fee will be refunded regardless of reason if LGA office is notified, in writing, before the close of entries (April 27, 2021). After the close of entries, fee will be refunded only in the event of injury or illness provided notification (accompanied by a doctor's statement) reaches LGA offices by May 5, 2021. A 20% service charge will be deducted from all refunds. Pairings and starting times will be emailed to each accepted entry on or about April 28, 2021.

 


Eligibility: Entries are open to any Louisiana resident (as of at least 90 days prior to the Championship) who is an amateur golfer (as defined by the USGA and The R&A) holding membership in a LGA member club in good standing (2021 club and individual dues must be paid). Entrants must be 50 years of age by midnight, May 5, 2021, and possess a certified World Handicap System Index of 15.0 or less. See above for Super Senior & Legends Championship. Non-amateurs are not eligible. Entries are subject to rejection at any time (including during the Championship) by the LGA. Reasons for rejection may include unbecoming conduct.

 

Dress Code: Competitors must be neat in appearance and wear appropriate attire. No gym shorts, cutoffs, blue jeans, tee shirts, etc. Shorts must be Bermuda length. Important Note: Oakbourne Country Club is a spikeless facility and all competitors will be required to wear spikeless shoes.

 

Field/Format: Limited to the first 156 entries. All competitors will play 36-holes (May 6-7) with the Overall Championship field cut to the 60 lowest scorers and ties for final 18-holes (third round/ May 8). Super Senior & Legends Championships are 36-holes. Overall Championship will be conducted over 54-holes at approximately 6,600 yards. In addition to the Overall Championship, there is a Super Senior division for those participants who are 65 years of age and older. There will also be a Legends division for those participants who are 75 years of age or older. Super Senior & Legends will play from approximately 6,200 yards and compete only in their designated division.  Any Senior over 65 may elect to play in the Overall competition but, in doing so, is precluded from participation in the Super Senior & Legends divisions.  For the Senior Amateur, the Super Senior & Legends divisions are a 36-hole event with the entry fee discounted by $25 from the Overall entry fee.

 

**Note: The Legends division must have a minimum of 10 participants. Should the field not reach the minimum by the entry deadline the participants will be placed into the Super Senior Championship field.**

Practice Privileges: Practice privileges are extended to participants in the Championship at Oakbourne Country Club on May 5. Contact the Oakbourne Golf Shop to schedule your practice round. Cart fee paid by LGA. 

Prizes: Crystal prizes will be awarded to the winners in the Overall and Super Senior Championships. Gift certificates will be awarded to the top five finishers in the Overall Championship and the top three finishers in the Super Senior Championship.
 

Rules of Golf: Play will be governed by the current Rules of Golf and LGA Rules of Play Card. All questions will be settled by the LGA Rules Committee, whose decision will be final.
