FIELD LIMIT

Field will be limited to the first 48 qualified sides. Entries will be accepted according to the time of receipt of entry and entry fee in addition to exempt sides.

 

ENTRY DEADLINE

Entry applications, along with the appropriate fee, must be completed or received by WA Golf by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, August 9, 2021.

 

REFUND POLICY

Refunds due to cancellation before the close of entry are subject to a $10 service charge. After the close of entry and up until round one pairings are released, refunds for documented and approved medical reasons are subject to a $25 service charge. No refund for any reason will be issued after round one pairings have been released unless replaced by a team from the waitlist.

 

HANDICAPS

Handicap indexes on Thursday, August 19 will be used for the championship. Team handicaps will be determined by combining 60% of the low player’s playing handicap and 40% of the high player’s playing handicap for net scoring.

 

FLIGHTS

The field will be divided into two flights by team handicap index. Flights (preliminary) are posted on the championship portal HERE, and will be finalized on Thursday, August 19 after handicaps have been updated and frozen.

 

COURSE YARDAGE

Course yardage is subject to change based on weather/course conditions. Hole-by-hole yardages are posted on the qualifying portal and will be emailed to players.

STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS

Starting times will be released on the morning of Thursday, August 19. Flight 1 will tee off between 7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. and the Championship Flight will tee off between 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Preferred starting time requests will not be accepted. Starting Times will be posted on the WA Golf website (WAgolf.org), on the championship portal and will be emailed to each player.

 

ONSITE REGISTRATION

All contestants must register in person with WA Golf at Canterwood Golf & Country Club prior to starting play. Registration will be located in the breezeway by the golf shop during the following times:

MONDAY, AUGUST 23: 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

 

SCHEDULE

18-hole Chapman (gross and net). In the event of a tie for the championship (gross only), a sudden-death playoff will be held immediately following play to determine the winner.

MONDAY, AUGUST 23: Starting times off the #1 tee from 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.  

 

CHAPMAN FORMAT
In Chapman stroke play, two players play as partners with each playing from the teeing ground and each player playing his/her partner’s ball for the second shot. After the second shot, including par three holes, partners select the ball with which they wish to score and then play that ball alternately to complete the hole.

 

PRACTICE ROUND

Practice rounds are not included in the entry fee. Practice rounds will be offered for $50 on weekdays or $70 on weekends plus $15 per rider for cart fees. Players can schedule practice rounds by calling the golf shop at (253) 851-1745. Players should identify themselves as Washington Mixed Chapman participants.

 

FOOD SERVICE (NO-HOST)

Food service will be available at the snack bar at the turn from 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Breakfast, lunch, and snack items will be available as well as beverages. 

 

BOTTLED WATER

WA Golf will provide bottled water during the championship. Coolers will be at multiple locations on the golf course. A beverage cart will not be on the course during play. 

 

CONTESTANTS’ LUNCH

WA Golf will host a meal for all competitors following the round on Monday, August 23 with indoor seating, outdoor seating and to-go options available. Players will order off a limited menu following their rounds.

 

METHODS OF PAYMENT

Canterwood Golf & Country Club accepts all major credit cards and cash.

 

HOURS OF OPERATION

The golf shop will open at 6:30 a.m. until dusk.

 

RANGE BALLS

WA Golf will provide contestants with warm-up range balls on the driving range from 6:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

 

CARTS

Automotive Carts will be available to participants for $40 per team and will be collected by WA Golf during registration. Please contact WA Golf if you did not register for a cart during registration but would now like to add one.

 

SPECTATOR CARTS

To provide an equal championship platform for all competitors, the use of carts by spectators is not permitted by WA Golf. 

 

CHAMPIONSHIP ACCOMMODATIONS FOR DISABLED SPECTATORS

WA Golf is committed to providing an enjoyable spectator experience for people with disabilities at WA Golf Championships. Requests from spectators seeking transportation onto the golf course due to a permanent disability, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), should be submitted one week in advance to the WA Golf Championship Department. While spectator carts may not always be available at each site, WA Golf will make every effort to accommodate these requests when available. 

Generally, an ADA covered disability is defined as a “physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities of the individual”. See, 42 USCA §12102. Spectators with a “temporary” injury or impairment that is not an ADA disability will not be allowed use of a golf cart under this Policy.

 

Spectators with transportation needs must contact the WA Golf Championship Department prior to the Championship. This full policy is available at the following link: wagolf.org/policies.

 

PULL CARTS

Pull carts are permitted. A limited number of carts will be available on a first come first serve basis in the golf shop.

 

CADDIES

Host club caddies will not be available. A player may provide his/her own caddie.

 

PRIZES

Crystal awards and merchandise credit will be awarded to the gross and net champions of the field as well as top finishing teams in each flight, both gross and net. All merchandise credit will be placed on an account under the player’s name in the Canterwood Golf & Country Club golf shop.
 

NOTE: Except for ties for the championship (gross), Matching Scorecards will be used to determine winners for crystal only (merchandise will be split) as outlined by the USGA in Section 5A(6) of Committee Procedures.

 

AWARDS CEREMONY

WA Golf will host an awards ceremony immediately upon completion of play at approximately 4:30 p.m. in the scoring area.

 

EXEMPTIONS

Champions (gross) of the Mixed Chapman Championship will receive an exemption into the 2022 Mixed Chapman Championship.

 

DRESS CODE

Players and caddies must be neat in appearance with respect to personal grooming and clothing while on host club property. The WA Golf Dress Code Policy is available at the following link: wagolf.org/policies and will be provided to all players, along with any additional measures required by the host club, in the Player Memorandum.

 

CODE OF CONDUCT

WA Golf expects all contestants, caddies, gallery, and guests to exhibit proper conduct and behavior on the golf course and anywhere on club property during a WA Golf Championship. Unbecoming conduct or behavior may be grounds for immediate disqualification, at any time, from any WA Golf event. The following are some examples of unbecoming conduct or behavior:

 

  • Repeated use of loud, abusive, and/or profane language
  • Throwing and/or breaking equipment (club, ball, etc.) in anger or frustration
  • Damaging host club, WA Golf, and/or fellow contestant property
  • Public criticism or verbal abuse of host club, officials, volunteers or staff, and/or WA Golf volunteers, staff or fellow contestants
  • Potential endangerment of others
  • Intentionally violating stated club policy
  • Violation of WA Golf Dress Code and/or Footwear Policy
  • Other conduct deemed unbecoming

 

The Committee in charge of the competition shall be the sole judge of determining Conduct Code violations.

 

UNOFFICIAL WITHDRAWAL

After the entry deadline and during play of the championship, players must notify WA Golf and state his or her need to withdraw. Entrants who unofficially withdraw (by not notifying WA Golf or without having sufficient reason) will not be granted entry into any future WA Golf Championship for a minimum of two years.

 

PACE OF PLAY POLICY

Players are encouraged to be familiar with WA Golf’s Pace of Play Policy, which is in effect at all championships.

 

LOCAL RULES AND TERMS OF THE COMPETITION

Players are encouraged to be familiar with WA Golf’s 2021 Local Rules and Terms of the Competition, which will be in effect at all championships.

 

PROHIBITED USE OF AUDIO EQUIPMENT

Rule 4.3 is modified in this way: During a round, a player is not allowed to use an electronic device to listen to music or other audio (such as podcasts or the like), including by using speakers, headphones or earbuds. Penalty for breach of Local Rule - see Rule 4.3.
