FORMAT/QUALIFYING PLACES

36 holes of individual stroke play for XX qualifying spots and 2 alternate spots to be determined to advance to the 2021 U.S. Open Championship to be played June 17-20 at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, CA.

PRACTICE ROUND

One practice round per player and practice rounds are for players only. Practice rounds will be available on the designated dates and times below. Please call Piedmont Driving Club to reserve your practice round starting time. Practice round cart and range fee is $30 plus tax and must be paid regardless of whether or not the player chooses to walk or ride. Credit cards ONLY will be accepted methods of payment in the golf shop. Contact the golf shop for practice round availability at (404) 346-4174.

Practice round availability – June 2, 4 or 6. Local players are encouraged and recommended to play their practice round June 2 or 4.  Out-of-town players travelling from more than 100 miles away have priority on June 6.

YARDAGES

Yardages are approximate and may be adjusted due to inclement weather or other factors that may affect the playing conditions during the competition. A yardage sheet is available the Golf Genius event portal and at the club.

GOLF SHOP & DRIVING RANGE

The golf shop and driving range will open at 6:30 a.m. the day of competition.

STARTING TIMES

Starting times for tournament play will be assigned by the USGA/GSGA and posted to the Golf Genius event portal June 1. You may visit www.gsga.org and the calendar of events for complete pairing information and starting times beginning on June 1.

REGISTRATION

No formal registration will be held on site. Players should arrive to their assigned starting tee ten minutes before their starting time to allow for the starter to go over instructions and rules of play. Player withdraws must be called in to the GSGA office at (678) 324-5969 or e-mailed to jfages@gsga.org.

CARTS

Practice round cart and range fees are $30 plus tax. Credit cards ONLY will be accepted. During the qualifying rounds, a caddie may transport a player’s bag on a cart for a fee of $60 plus tax for the entire day.  Spectator carts are strictly prohibited in all instances. Push/pull carts are not permitted at Piedmont Driving Club.

CADDIES

Players may provide their own caddie or contact the club for a club caddie. Contact Duane Carter at (832) 684-7194 for club caddie information.  Push/pull carts are not permitted at Piedmont Driving Club.

PRIZES

A Silver medal and will be presented to the low scorer at the conclusion of the qualifying rounds.  “Golden Tickets” and alternate information will be distributed to those qualifying and in alternate positions.

RULES OF PLAY/PACE OF PLAY/CART POLICY

PREFERED LIES

Per the USGA, for all USGA Championships and qualifying rounds, the following policy is in effect: A Local Rule authorizing “Preferred Lies” or “Winter Rules” is NEVER permitted.

FOOD SERVICE

Food and beverage items will be available in the clubhouse starting at 6:30 a.m. Cash and credit cards will be accepted for F&B purchases. Breakfast will be available from 6:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m., and lunch from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  

PERSONAL APPEARANCE

In Local and Sectional Qualifying stages and the Championship proper, players must be neat in appearance with respect to clothing and personal grooming. The Committee in charge decides whether this requirement has been met, and has the authority to withdraw the entry of a player who does not comply. The wearing of short pants is prohibited in the Championship proper, but is permissible in Local and Sectional Qualifying provided the host club does not have a dress code prohibiting such.
