2019 champion – Rob Labritz shot 7-under-par to win by three shots over Jason Thresher at Green Valley. The event was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

Format – 36 holes of stroke play.

 

Tee Times – 7:30 a.m. both Monday and Tuesday.

 

Field – The field will consist of 44 amateurs and 59 professionals.

 

Purse – $21,000 with the low professional getting $5,000.

 

The start – The Rhode Island Open Championship began in 1929. That year, Fred Bentley won with a score of 305.

 

The Upper Echelon – Dana Quigley has won a total of six Rhode Island Open Championships (1973, 1981, 1992-93, 1995-96). Donald Hoenig is next in line with four (1951, 1954-55, 1961).

 

The Amateurs  The last amateur to win the Rhode Island Open was Marc St. Martin in 1990.

 

Past Champions – Past Open champions in the field include 2013 champion Shawn Warren of Falmouth Country Club (Maine).
