ELIGIBILITY

The Maine Junior Championship is restricted to Maine resident amateurs who have not yet reached their 19th birthday on August 5, 2021. 

Juniors who summer in Maine, who are members of an MSGA member club and who compete in at least five MSGA Junior Tour events are also eligible for the Junior Championship (but not our other championships).

 

ENTRY INFORMATION

All players must file an entry for the championship. Players must apply for the championship via the NEPGA Maine Junior Golf Tour. The MSGA administers the Maine Junior Championship, however all registration is done through the New England PGA portal that juniors use throughout the rest of the Maine Junior Golf Tour season.

 

The championship will be contested in divisions: Boys 11 & Under, Boys 12-13, Boys 14-15, and Boys 16-18; Girls 13 & Under, Girls 14-15, Girls 16-18.

 

Cost: The entry fee for the championship is $30-50. 

Entry deadline: July 25, 2021 at 11:59 pm.

 

Players are reminded to apply early to allow time for resolving any errors, an incomplete application, or for not adhering to the eligibility as prescribed above.

 

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

The championship will consist of 36 holes of stroke play for all divisions except the youngest division, who will play 18 holes (9 holes per day).

 

Wednesday, August 4:  First round, 18 holes

Thursday, August 5:       Second round, 18 holes

In the event of a tie in any flight, the winner will be decided immediately by a hole-by-hole playoff.

 

PRIZES

Winner: Crystal trophy for the winner of each division.

Top finishers: Prize money, determined by finishing position, in the form of a gift card to Golf & Ski Warehouse.

 

RULES OF GOLF

All play will be governed by The Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA, except as modified by Local Rules. The on-site Rules Committee will have the final authority on all rulings. The competition is deemed to be closed when the trophy is awarded to the champion.

 

CONDITIONS AND SCHEDULES

The MSGA Tournament Committee/on-site Rules Committee reserves the right to alter any of the conditions, provisions, and/or schedules herein. The decision of the Tournament Committee/on-site Rules Committee in any matter is final.

 

WITHDRAWAL AND REFUND POLICY

Advanced entry fees will be refunded regardless of reason if the MSGA is notified before the close of entries. The MSGA will refund all of the entry fee, less $5, to cover processing fees and associated costs. Refunds of entries made by credit or debit card will be applied to the same card used during registration. After the close of entries, fees will be refunded only if the tournament remains full or in the event of injury or illness. No refunds will be given after the start of the tournament. Unusual circumstances will be considered individually.

 

STARTING TIMES

After the application deadline, starting times will be posted at www.mesga.org, as well as emailed to all players in the field. Starting times will be made public no less than four days before the tournament begins.
