ADDITIONAL LOCAL RULES - These Local Rules are for the above competition and are in addition to the England Golf Hard Card 2021 The Club’s own Local Rules do not apply. A player in doubt as to a Rule should refer to a Referee wearing a yellow armband.

 

Preferred Lies

When a player’s ball lies in a part of the general area cut to fairway height or less, the player may take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball in, and playing it from, this relief area:

Reference point: spot of the original ball. Size of Relief Area measured from the Reference Point: 6 inches

The Relief Area must be in the general area and must not be nearer the hole than the Reference Point.

 

When a player’s ball lies in a bunker, the player may take free relief once by placing a ball within 6 inches of the ball’s original spot, no nearer the hole. The ball must be placed in the bunker, and the sand may not be smoothed before placing

 

Flagstick                                                                                        

The flagstick must remain in the hole at all times. If a player makes a stroke whilst the flagstick is removed or attended they will incur the General Penalty

 

Scoring in Stroke Play

Rule 3.3b(2) is modified in this way: The requirement for both player and marker to certify the hole scores on the scorecard is removed. Scores for each hole must be certified verbally with the marker and score recorder. The player’s responsibility for a wrong score under Rule 3.3b(3) is unchanged.

 

Penalty Areas

Penalty areas are identified by yellow/red stakes but, in the absence of a painted line, are defined by their natural margin.

The red penalty area to the left of the 5th fairway is defined on one side only and extends to infinity.

 

Out of Bounds

On the flowerbeds or on or beyond the paved areas around the clubhouse          

 

Integral Objects

The Ice House on the 3rd hole

The stile on the left of the 12th hole

 

No Play Zones

The barn between the 4th and 15th holes

Drainage ditch on the right bank of the 6th green

Free relief must be taken from interference by the No Play Zone under Rule 16.1f

Practice

These areas are part of the course but practice is permitted before or between rounds:

Between the 8th and 11th holes; besides the 17th fairway; the chipping area between the 1st and 7th holes

 

PACE OF PLAY

The England Golf Pace of play is in operation. Players are expected to complete their rounds within 4 hours and 08 minutes. Ready golf is strongly encouraged.

All groups are expected to keep pace with the group in front – any group that is Out of Position will be required to catch up and may be subject to timing. Any player may be individually timed when playing any stroke.

 

RETURNING SCORECARDS

Upon leaving the last putting green, all the competitors within a group must report immediately to the Scoring Area situated in the Clubhouse where scorecards will be checked under the supervision of an Official.
