CGA Super-Senior Match Play Championship - Flatirons Golf Course

Host Facility: Flatirons Golf Course

Dates: Monday, June 28 - Thursday, July 1, 2021

Eligibility: Open to all active CGA Members age 65 and older on or before June 28, 2021.

Registration Deadline: Monday, June 14th at 11:59 p.m. MT

Entry Fee: $250.00 for all players into the championship.

Field Size: Maximum of 32 players based on exemptions and first come first served.

Registration: Players that are not on the EXEMPT LIST will be placed in the championship field on a first come, first served basis. The first 15 players to register that are not listed on the exempt player list will have a spot in the championship field, regardless of handicap index.

Format: The CGA Super-Senior Match Play Championship will be played using the PGA TOUR style match play Pod Play system at gross scoring. This means that any player who registers for the championship will be guaranteed at least three (3) matches in the championship. After each player is ranked (see below), all players will be evenly distributed into their pod with three (3) other players. This will yield 8 pods of four (4) players. Each player will play all three other players in their pod at least once (see schedule below). The winner of each pod will advance to the Round of 8 and single elimination knockout play will commence from there until a champion is crowned. If there is a tie for the pod winner or knockout stage, a sudden death playoff will determine the winner.

Scoring: There will be no playoffs in pod play. Scoring during pod play will be as follows:
Match Won – 1 point | Match Tied – ½ point | Match Lost – 0 Points. If there is a tie following Pod Play, a sudden death playoff between the tied players will determine a winner of the pod.

Player Seeding: All 32 players will be ranked 1 – 32. The defending champion will be ranked #1. Exempt players will be ranked next based on their 2020 CGA Super-Senior Player of the Year points standings and then handicap index, if necessary. The rest of the field of 32 will be made from players that are first come, first served and will be ranked next based on their 2020 CGA Super-Senior Player of the Year points standings and then handicap index, if necessary.

Pod Structure: The pods will follow the PGA TOUR style of randomized drawing. Once players have been seeded 1 - 32, players will be drawn at random so that each pod will consist of a player ranked 1 - 8 (A Player), 9 - 16 (B Player), 17 - 24 (C Player) and 25 - 32 (D Player). Please CLICK HERE to view the applicable pod rankings once player seeding is established.
